I suppose that in terms of saving the universe every other week as a plot device, I could understand why people dislike Wesley so much. Other than that, I don't. I was 12 when Star Trek The Next Generation premiered in 1987. Wesley started out as a 15-year old. He was the answer to my daydreams as a Trekkie, being an acting ensign and everything that came along with that. I think they warped and twisted his character way out of shape after he went to Starfleet Academy. I wonder how much of that came from Wil Wheaton's desire to do something different and how much came from the writers' desire to tie up his storyline for the end of the series. For all his nerdiness I still think he had some redeeming qualities. I really liked his interactions with the rest of the main cast.

He is King of Nerds. I saw a Vh1 special and he admits he had one of the lamest characters in tv history.

He was such a wimp. And I was always jealous that Ashley Judd's first screen kiss was with him. HIM!! AAGGGHHHH!
