1) Voldemort was waaiiiiting in far away land (albania??) alone and miserable, until wormtail came and found him. V was still pretty much vapor/spirit, not a physical thing, and couldn't really do much....it was chance that quirrel was a teacher @ hogwarts, and interested in the dark arts, and willingly allowed V to live on his head. :) i have to agree that "it just so happened" that it was also harry potter's first year at horgwarts!! oh well can't dispute that one!

2) if u are speaking from book 1, V didn't have his death eaters yet, he was friendless except for wormtail, who is weak. since harry thwarted him, he didn't have a body agian.... he only came back in book #4.....that's when he actually had a body again.... and when he made the dark mark so that his deatheaters could see he was in power again. until then, no one was aware....

also, remember in #5, voldemort didn't really want to be seen because no one believed harry and dumbledore, it was working to his favor. if he showed up, he would cause an UPROAR and everyone would be in arms, wary against V. i'm also sure Dumbeldore has more protection around harry than just the house; remember in #5 again that Miss Figg next door was a squib and was watching, so was mundungus fletcher....so when dementors showed up they immediately told the Order.... from book 1+, more and more protection is bestowed upon harry.

3) they did try to attack the bank, and it didn't work. it was in the newspapers... and it was by "luck" that hagrid and harry got it in time. also, harry was always Out and about with hagrid or the weasleys, so it wouldn't be so easy to just kill him in broad daylight in front of lots of people..it would only make MORE wizards and witches on Dumbeldore's side, which is not "good" for the death eaters!

4) V doesn't need another host, now that he got his body back. and that way was only cuz he was a spirit, and he had to wait, it took a long time, and what are the chances of finding another willing subject?? nope.... V is too impatient for that! and he wants satisfaction, especialy after being thwarted so many dang times! he wants to squish him like a bug and watch him squirm and die.....which is always the problem in stories, (remember austin powers? dr. evil wouldn't just shoot austin, and the son was like, "come on, he's just gonna escape then!!") hahaha... :)

Voldemort had no idea Harry was the "chosen one". He heard only the first part of the prophecy and acted on that. Don't forget Neville could have been the "chosen one" as well but Voldemort chose the person most like himself. Half Muggle, half wizard. After the Avada Kedavara curse backfired Voldemort lost his body. The Death Eaters feared their Master had died so they did not bother looking for him or Harry. Since Lilly Potter Harry's mother died for him he was protected by Dumbledore and the blood in Petunia's veins. So even if Voldemort had gotten his body back in the beginning he could not have touched Harry without going through pain. And the Death Eaters had never heard of the prophecy at least not all of it and they couldn't have touched Harry because of Dumbledore's protection. As to why Voldemort found a host that was pure luck.

To answer your multiple questions, I'll have to break it down a little further.
Yes the house itself is protected from Voldermort. It was protected immediately after Voldermort lost almost all his powers and strength. It is not defined as to how it is protected but we know that Harry cannot be attacked from within.
The sorcerers stone is said to produce an elixir that can keep you alive even if you are inches from death, and it will keep you immortal as well.
The stone moves because his friend Flammel asks him to protect it. It never mentions as to why he deosn't think it's no longer safe in the vault at Gringotts. But we know the only safest place next to the bank is Hogwarts.
Harry is not in the public eye until he goes into the wizarding world. When Harry goes to Hogwarts, he himself finds out about what's happened to him and everyone else figures it out.
Voldermort who's been recovering is in hiding this entire time. He also lets his death eater know how angry he is for not looking for him and not doing his work while he was gone. Without Voldermort the Death Eaters have nothing. They all were cowards and tried to blend back into society.
Anyway, whatever spurred Nicolas Flammel to want Dumbledore to move the stone comes true when Gringotts is broken into.
And another reason why they can't attack is because Voldermort wants people to think he's dead. It's an advantage. One, he doesn't want to go to Azkaban for them to take his soul and Two, he likes to make a show of things so when he comes back he wants to make it big. Voldermort can't just go prancing around town, he doesn't even have his own body until the 4th book and at that he is "snake-like". He's got to get his army built back up to try taking over once again...
I think I answered every question. Hope that helps!

First of all, the death eaters all thought V was dead until he managed to inch his way back to corporeal form. Secondly, the stone was in the bank where it was protected by magic and trolls and dragons. He couldn't attack Harry's home because a home is a safe haven under the laws of magic. Why didn't he attack before Harry came back? He couldn't, he had just managed to get back to form after his attack on Harry (as a baby) turned back on him and nearly killed him. Why not wait until Harry left? He is the BAD guy and that is what bad guys do -- they carry grudges. The only way for V to get back into his body and fully regenerate is to USE Harry.

Re-read the book man and absorb the details!

The Death Eaters thought that Voldemort was dead, so they didn't carry out the plan to kill Harry out of fear of getting caught. As far as Voldemort going after the stone, he need to have a host to get close to it, it was just a coincedence that it was harry's first year when he found such a host.

Your question relates to a time when Voldemort was disembodied, weak, and between 2-4 % human, depending on whether you accept that Dumbledore was correct in thinking that the final division of V's soul took place later, after killing the caretaker.(You can do the maths yourself, dividing the remaining soul in V himself by half for each of the horcruxes). I expect that he was too desperate to think of killing anyone unless it was unavoidable especially Harry, given the outcome of the last encounter. As for the deatheaters, they were in denial and thought V was all washed up.
As for the attempt to capture the stone, V's agent did try to get it before school term began but the vault had been emptied. He could not try before then as it was an accident of luck for V to meet and overcome Quirrel, who was on his way back to the UK from an East European holiday.

Prior to Harry coming to Hogwarts, Voldemort was not strong enough to attemp to get the Stone. Once he was strong enough, he solicited Professor Quirrel, and then tried to get it.
The Death Eaters couldn't attack Harry on Pivet Drive, because that is his place of protection, as Dumbledore says.
And, they can't attack Gringotts, it's the safest place to store something, except Hogwarts of course.

He couldn't steal the stone before because it was in Gringott's bank - the safest place to keep something (except Hogwarts).

They couldn't get him then because his aunt and uncle's home was the only safe place for him because of the family blood. It was in the first chapter of the first book. Dumbledore said - "They really are the only family he has."
