The issue is not a Democratic problem. You conservatives can keep saying Dems had this info for 3 years but that would mean that they had it prior to the last Congressional Election 2 years ago, which was ALSO the 2004 Presidential Election! If the Dems had this info, they would have used it to win the Elections in 2004! Keep lying about it, I am sure some ignorant people will believe you.
The Republican aide to the Republican Congressional Campaign Chairman Tom Reynolds, resigned and admitted that he told Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert three years ago. It was Republicans who have been sitting on this information. They didnt ask Foley to resign then, They didnt insist that he stop having contact with pages. They DID leave him in charge of a committe overseeing exploited CHILDREN! It is all the Republicans fault and the way I see it, Hastert, Reynolds and Majority leader John Boener need to resign in disgrace too!

Hello? These instant messages were released by a Republican staffer. Did you hear that? A Republican. Where did you get the idea that the Democrats had information on Mark Foley that they chose to hold until a month before the election? Do you just assume that the Democrats are to blame for everything, and then find a way to blame them? Isn't it possible that Foley himself has some blame? Isn't it also possible that the Republican leadership had some information and chose to ignore it or cover it up or failed to investigate, until it came out at a very inconvenient time for them? Check your facts before making accusations like those you are making.

Well, you do have a point in that they conveniently waited until right before the election to bring this all to light instead of doing something about it then when they could have potentially stopped other kids from going through the same thing. At least when ABC does this stuff, they don't go on the air with forged documents like Dan Rather and CBS did. (I bet ole Dan is pretty annoyed at that!) ABC took their time and got their ducks in a row before they broke the story, which just happened, amazingly enough, to be ready right before the November elections. What a coincidence! If Foley were a Democrat and this story broke, they'd already be screaming about the timing. It's OK when they do it.

The Democrats did not know about this until Foley resigned. The republicans knew about it for at least a year and did nothing to stop it. Were they going to wait until a page was physically accosted before they acted? I hope not but it sure looks that way. Instead of blaming the Democrats why don't you put the blame where it belongs on the Shoulders of the House republican leadership. Also it would help if you would try to be more honest in your questions if that is possible from a republican.

The "they" you are referring to is the Republican leadership . A better question is why the speaker of the house hid this information? Pedophilia is illegal. Exchanging sexually "grooming" e-mails with a minor is illegal. It doesn't matter if the page is 18 now, he was a minor when it happened. Also- to add insult to injury, Foley was involved with the National Center for missing and exploited children among other child protection agencies. It's egregious because he broke the law and this should have been addressed publicly when it happened and he should have been prosecuted. Democrats and Republicans alike are held to the same laws as the citizenry are- therefore, any politican who commits a crime should be censored and prosecution and there are many examples from both sides of the aisle who had to resign because of various crimes..

You are delusional! It is the Republicans who have hid this information, not the Democrats. It is the Republicans who installed this known predator into a position to guard the Internet against predators....like putting the fox in charge of the hen house...AND YOU want to blame Democrats! Yes, you are indeed a noble Republican, trained to put spin on every dastardly thin your Republican party does...amazing mind set! You fall for every lie told to you, every stupid, idiotic reason given to you. IT really is no wonder that we are in such a mess today with people who never open their eyes, think for themselves, and twist truth to fit their scenario. Truly AMAZING!

Yes. I agree. Did you see Nancy Pelosi the other day politicizing this when she said, "they were protecting Foley, instead of protecting the children." (referring to the Republican leadership) So, inappropriate e-mails to a 16 or 18 year old page is now "not protecting the children." Like you said, they only care about using this issue for political gain this November.

If you are going to blame democrats for playing that game, you should be fair and blame the republicans for doing it, too. That means bringing up gay marriage, or raising the terror alert, or impeaching the president for consensual sex between adults, during election season. I am not defending this practice, its just that both parties do it. Nobody has clean hands. Or, you could say, you won't forgive the republicans for sitting on this for three years, to possibly advance their own agenda at the expense of our young people, too.
don't drink their koolaid, think for yourself....

You are an idiot. The con leadership tried to cover this up. You should hate the cons and get on with your life. All Republicans are closet pedophiles.
