I read the book many years ago, thought it was one of his worst. And it is so tragic. Unfortunately, the recent case of a girl kidnapped and held in a cellar for 8 years, in Austria, reminded me so much of the book. Fortunately, the Austrian girl was luckier than the one in the book.

Yes, it was a weird read and the movie was pretty grim too.

yes it was good but not one of his best, it was also a film with terence stamp and (i think) gayle hunnicut
