Two girls -- female brains are wired for sociability so girl-girl friendships can be strong. They aren't all, of course, but they can be. Male brains have inhibitiors on social skills in them so men can hunt. Girls use more words than boys and feel more feelings (in general). Girl and boy friendship can be close but is vulnerable to break down when one of them finds a sexual relationship.... especially if only one of them does.

It depends on yuor culture too. Some cultures divide males from females much more than others. Male-male bonds can be strong in those cultures (e.g. Crete, I know.... also Arabs and Indians I reckon).

my best friend is male, but in general i think that same sex friends have a closer bond because they can relate to each other more. imagine a girl trying to talk about PMS and how much of a ***** that woman at work is with a guy!!!!
