I work for a school district. I am not a teacher, but, work on the school bus, transporting the children. I know for a fact that the teachers are not off because they have a workshop to attend and the bus drivers and aides are not off because we actually have to take CPR classes on that day.
So, no, we are not off.
By the way, I am from Essex County, New Jersey, just to let you know that we only had one day off this whole month, and that was to celebrate Yom Kippur.

It all depends where you live. Some states have school;others don't; same for jobs.

yes.. i don't think they consider it a big holiday.
i think only banks and post offices may close.
