I recommend a glass of wine or a glass of hot milk before you go to bed. And a hot bath as well. If you still wake up in the middle of the night try that hot milk. My mum used to do that when she had the same problem and she said it actually helps. Good luck and sweet dreams:) x

1st I know how you feel. 2nd you should consult your doctor. Not that there maybe anything hugely wrong but it could be something. He/She might also prescribe something to help you sleep.
If you don't' want to take medication try chamomile tea or milk. Read a boring book or turn on a boring TV show, seeing as it's the middle of the night one of those infomercials and set your TV turn off in 1/2 hr. But do not get up or move around a lot because then you may wake up fully and really not get back to sleep.
Also don't exercise too close to bed time. The adrenaline can also keep you awake.
Good Luck & Sweet Dreams...

there are a few things that can cause your insomnia. Alcohol is a classic makes you fall asleep but it is a stimulant and therefore you wake in the middle of the night. Also could you be depressed? or stressed out, this definitely wont help.Hot bath before bed, chill out with book/relaxing music and buy a book on relaxation techniques this will definitely help. Sounds like your suffering what most of use these days have to deal with - a too busy life. Hope this helps

I'm in my mid forties and have the same problem. It has something to do with energy levels and your life style. If you're a fitness fanatic and eat a lot of healthy and energy producing foods and drinks, then this is one problem. Another is the oxygen levels in your blood. Fitness fanatics pump and recirculate their blood much quicker sending more oxygen through the body.
Quite often the only answer is to go to bed later or eat carbs in the evening. These can make you more tired?
Or just get a book!

According to Dr. Wayne Dyer. This is the time that you are most able to connect to your inner self and inner voice. The time that should be used to think and talk to yourself with that inner dialogue that is often prevented during the course of a busy day filled with distractions.
Maybe you are just trying to tell yourself something you need to hear and quiet and the still of the night is the only good time to do it so your mind will wake you until you take the time to get up and listen to it.
Dr. Dyer says of these occourances... "Do not go back to sleep." Use the time to listen to what you are trying to say to you that life often causes us to avoid through distraction.
Once you listen... you will not keep waking up!

Well... check your eve eating habits...could the waking be to do with your digestion, do you need to pee? You will need to eat and drink earlier in the eve if so...just don't worry about it though....do the usual
soak in a nice bath trick before bed and take it from there...Lastly are you sure you are not being woken by an outside noise? Neighbour coming in? Good luck...sleep well!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I think you may have the Restless Legs Syndrome. Then you should try medication which actually was made for Parkinson patients, but is taken at a much lower dose

When you wake up drink a shot of whisky.
Keep a glass on your bedside table.
That should do the trick.

There are lots of things, not drinking caffeine b4 u go to bed, not eating after 8 pm or exercising after 7ish.
Make sure your room is dark, you dont have the TV on and its the right temperature. Have a warm bath and use lavender on your pillow or something soothing like a hot drink ( not tea or coffee) b4 u go to bed. make sure u set a routine and keep to it
