Why is there so much venom spewed at Hillary? I hear and read it all the time on right wing radio and Yahoo Answers things said about her that go beyond partisan politics. She's called the devil and a great threat to the US, etc. If you don't like Hillary I would really like to know what she has said or done to make you feel that way. I'll only select an answer as best if it includes specific reasons. Not partisan rhetoric.

Swaii - I agree that there is name calling on both sides, but why is she the focus of so much of it coming from the right?

We detest Hillary because she expects all of us to maintain a standard she refuses to apply to herself. From the destruction of records at ther law firm, the suspicious death of Vince and the repeated tolerance of her husbands philandering, she is a walking contradiction of the values and morals she is supposed to represent. Her success has come on the back and blood of others. Check under her hairline and you may find 666

Hillary is hated because she is an opportunist. She will say and do anything to get votes.
I am a Democrat, and more than anything I want a Dem to win in 2008 BUT we need someone with principles and Hillary does not show much class in this area.
Just one example, while Joe Lieberman and 18 other Democrats voted against the Mexican Fence Bill, Hillary voted for it. When asked why, she wouldn't answer the question.
In typical Hillary fashion she will now need to move to the left to win the primary and then move to the center to try to get elected.
We need a leader not a poll watching flip flopper.

Hillary Clinton is most likely as competent as the next politician. I think one of the reasons that people are extremely polarized on accepting her is that she hasn't managed her image or played her "roles" effectively, or better yet, to many people's liking.
The problem lies in that she is a very ambitious and motivated woman who is probably ahead of her time on many levels. The American culture in general has a problem with someone who tries to act outside of the stereotypical role there suppose to be playing, especially a woman in politics! It makes them uncomfortable and so the Strong emotions ensue. We like to take baby steps to change and not have to absorb it all at once.
So, she's really stuck then between being a pioneer in her field and being accepted. Throw in bi-partisian politics and you've got a pretty tight rope to walk.

Hillary is a scapegoat for the conservative mind set. She wields power, and these people cannot stand a woman to have power. She is looked down on BECAUSE she chose the high road when her husband messed around. Rather than sue for divorce, she did the sensible thing.."am I better off with him or with out him." It was her choice, not anyone elses. Yet, many view this as weakness. I view it a total strength!
Hate is a nebulous thing...there are no reasons for it, it is just a foolish thing exhibited by many humans. There is NO reason this woman is not highly admired. They tried to stick her with mis-doings in Arkansas loan scandals, and nothing would stick. Yet she was convicted in the public's eye for no reason.
Good luck, and the question was intelligent.

without regard to political affiliation, Hillary Clintons persona is not good. she comes across as a (again no political anything here, just an opinion) shrill, screaching shrewish woman. her voice becomes irritatingly high pitched and nasal when she speaks to large gatherings, and she reminds me of all the gossipers in the front row of a baptist (where i was dragged as a child) church, inso far as the manner of her language.

People don't like strong women. Ever. And don't tell me about how popular Condi is, because she isn't. Condi's sudden popularity is the result of the Republican party hiring talented publicists. Ever notice how Condi rarely ever open's her mouth in public? Can you quote one thing she's ever said? Can you cite even one of her significant accomplishments or public contributions? She's not a strong woman; she's a political and media tool. People hate Hilliary, and many other strong female public figures, because of their success and independence.
What is really sad is that so many so-called "concervative" women have been brainwashed into thinking that being a strong, successful and independent woman is somehow wrong. Madonna may have done some wacky things over the years, but you can't deny that girlfriend is soley responsible for her own success, and lots of other women can't stand her for it. Same with Oprah.

Again, no specifics, no actual comments or links so that you could actually prove or disprove any of the allegations against her. It makes me sad that so many men are so afraid of a strong woman, and would just prefer to tear her down.

I would vote for jim's answer.Someone like that has a ruthless ambition for herself, every thing she does is a cold and calculated move meant to fool the public into voting for her. She would turn our country into socialist state. Would we get to vote then or would we be stuck with her?

I dont like her, but I would never call her the devil. But come on, look at the way Bush is talked about. Both sides do their fair share of name calling.

I don't remember the exact words, but at one point when the 911 tragedy happened apparently she gave a comment that was politically incorrect.... not very sympathetic words, which was so needed at that sad time.
She is a very outspoken and eloquent lady, which is very threatening. Margret T. of England for example is called the Iron Lady- feared..... Hillary is very much like her.
