we just install new drum and pads on my dodge caravan 1999 model, it creates ratling sound when we apply brakes what could be the reason?

Could be that the adjuster is trying to catch up and adjust the brakes properly as they may not have been done as needed when the drums were back on. Next, did you attach the parking brake cable to the shoes, that may be bouncing around. Does the drum have anything in it, like the hold down sping retaining end. Basically just tear it down again and check to make sure everything is ok. You possibly could have popped a spring and that is bouncing around in the drum between the shoe and the drum.
