I am planning on traveling to Disney World in mid December, and wanted to know from people who live around there or have been @ that time, if the weather is okay around then? Also if the parks are crowded around then? I am sure they aren't but just wanted to ask... Thanks in advance!

I've lived in Orlando for a while and I've been a pass holder for the past few years. Early to mid december is the best time to go, because the weather has cooled off significantly, but it is still pleasant outside. The closer it gets to christmas, the busier it becomes and more crowded.

While you're down here, they'll have all the Christmas decorations up, so be sure to visit some of the resorts to see how they've transformed them for Christmas. The Wilderness Lodge usually has a giant christmas tree and the Grand Floridian has a life size gingerbread house inside of the lobby. Have fun!

Yes, you will find it crowded that time of year, mostly because so many people think it would be a great gift for their kids for Christmas. The weather is usually mild, but can be iffy. Having lived in Jacksonville for 25 years, I found that Christmas is always a "guestimate" for Orlando. Likely it won't be raining, but warm? I'd watch Florida weather forecasts on weather.com, intellicast.com, or Yahoo weather, and maybe see what sort of winter they're anticipating. But while you're down there, you'll find that especially Sea World and also Bush Gardens are FABULOUS, unless you really feel the need to meet Mickey and Pluto in person. Be sure you check them all out before you decide on one. YOu should also be able to find packages including more than one place. Good Luck!

I live in Orlando.. the weather is going to be ultra nice!! Right now there is significantly less humidity and the evenings are getting cooler. It will be even better in December! You are probably going to need to bring a pair of jeans and a sweater or long sleeve t-shirt becasue it can get chilly!

As far as the parks, I have an annual pass. The time you are going to be there is a great time to go to the parks. There significanly fewer people in the parks compared to the crowds in the summer months. The lines will not be bad at all, but you still may want to get a fast pass for the more popular rides.

Have a great time!

The weather there is awesome in December. My wife and I own a timeshare just outside of WDW and we have been there the first week in December several times. The temps are usually around 80 degrees and the humidity is usually pretty low that time of year. The best part is that there are very, very few people in Orlando the first week in December. I guess because everyone is saving their travel time for around Christmas. I've been told by people who live there full time that the week between Christmas and New Years is one of the busiest weeks of the year for that area. But when we go, we can usually walk right to the front of the lines on all the rides and attractions because so few people are in the theme parks that first week in December. We love it! Have fun!

I think it's a great time to go!!! I've been there at that time and its beatiful!!!! The decorations are amazing!!! It's like being in a dream world, you can't even believe you're there! The weather is okay. It might be a little cold and it might be a little rainy, but it doesn't stop the fun! We even went on water rides and enjoyed it. You should definately go, although it probably would be a little crowded (everyone i know goes to Florida during winter).

went there last year it was fantastic with brilliant weather, we went 5-10 December and the parks had enough people for a good atmosphere but there was no queuing. The neare the christmas holidays once schools and firms break up it will get busier. A few years ago we went on Christmas Day, magic Kingdom was full and closed to new visitors around 10.30am but again the weather was fantastic. Enjoy your break

How about right after Thanksgiving, Decorations are on and so all the special shows, less crowds then on your dates. Stay on site and get free dining option. ______________________________________... Update: Just read your update, go then for your first option. Many people stay for Christmas and New Year and coming around the date you are leaving. Moreover, more kids go on Christmas vacation and very end of year will be too much, especially on December 31 and January 1. Also all the decorations will start going down on January 1. With earlier date, you get decorations, Christmas Shows and maybe just a little bit less crowds. Hope it helped.

December is a great time to go because you may have to stand in line a little but you won't be sweltering hot. We went there one Christmas and had a lot of fun. It's busy but not horrible.
