Most Christian traditions adhere to the findings of the Council of Nicea, which was convened to determine how God and Jesus were related. The determination at Nicea was that Jesus, God and the "Holy Spirit" are all aspects of one being, the one God recognized by the Christian tradition. The Council found that Jesus is the "son of God" in that he was an aspect of God sent to earth in the form of a man. This is one of the most complex and interesting theological issues in Christianity, and I'd suggest looking up the Council of Nicea for more detailed information.

It's worth noting that though most Christian traditions go by the determination made at Nicea, some believe that Jesus as the "son of God" should be interpreted more literally, and that they are distinct beings, while still others assign yet another relationship between God and Jesus. Ultimately it is a matter of faith and belief, rather than of fact.

If you mean Jesus, there was a lot of debate as to his nature. Some said he was God, some said he was the son of God, and some said he was a great Rabbi (teacher). When the Emperor Constantine adopted Christianity as the official religion of Rome, he ordered the bishops of the church to meet at Nicea and determine the nature of God, and decide which books should be included in the New Testament. After a great deal of debate, the bishops compromised, and decided that God was a trilogy--the Father (Allah, as you would know him), the Son (Jesus), and the holy ghost (the spirit which infuses us all).

Jesus is God, or put another way, Jesus is God, made Man.

ADDENDUM: As I see some people are reacting negatively to the last clause of my sentence above, I wish to clarify.

'In the Nicene Creed we proclaim: "By the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man." The Words "and he became man" were added to exclude the error that the Son of God "dwelt" in Jesus in some way, but did not actually become man.'

Yes Jesus is God- "Before Abraham came to be, I am" but He did not view equalitty with God "something to grasp"- rather he "emptied Himself on the Cross for our sake."
