Hey. Take It From a Black Girl Like Me whose had Black Knees.
The Best way to get rid of Black Knees is, when you get of of the shower and dry off, you need to put cocoa butter on your knees. Do this everyday you get out from taking a bath or shower. That's how I got rid of my Black Knees.

But Know This. It's not going to take a week for this to disappear. It may take about 3 months or so. Remember Use Cocoa in all areas that appear dark.

Use an exfoliating scrubb, like one of those poofs you see, or a loofah. This will, over time (a couple weeks of doing it everyday) remove all the dark, dead skin. Be gentle though, you don't want to break the skin or cause it to raw. Stay OFF your knees! (no innuendo implied) - avoid kneeling, or sitting with your knees on the ground. This develops the callouses (dead skin built up) that we're trying to remove. In the shower, you can rub lemon (cut the lemon in half, apply fruit side to skin) on your knees after scrubbing, this will also help lighten the skin. Moisturize with a quality Cream (use CREAM, not lotion, its much thicker and more effective) liberally on your knees after shower and before bed every day.

Due to the close distribution of melanocytes in darker skin types, irritation and swelling can cause the melanacytes to react and produce pigment. When this happens, it can cause dark pigmented spots appear. It is commonly known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The largest concern for people of African descent is uneven skin tone - and this is most likely due to to an inflammatory reaction in the skin.

This problem can be difficult to treat because most traditional methods of skin lightening will cause further irritation and furtherhyperpigmentation. Glycolic acid, hydroquinone, retinol - these should all be avoided due to their irritation potential (especially since higher concentrations are needed in order to produce significant results).
