Several things need to be cleared up about Foley.

1. There were emails and IMs.
2. The Republicans learned about the emails awile ago. The emails were uncomfortable, but broke no laws and breached no ethics. The Republicans told Foley to stop it, but there was nothing they could do as he did nothing wrong.
3. The Republicans learned about the IMs when everyone else did. The IMs were sexually explicit, and they crossed the line. The REpublicans responded by asking Foley to resign. This was the proper response.
4. Even if all that weren't true, the age of consent in DC is 16. It wasn't illegal.

Plus, it reminds me a bit of Gerry Studds, who had a relationship with a 17-year old male page. What happened to him? He was a congressmen for the next 14 years. Guess what party he belonged to? Democrat. And guess who said it was all right for him to do that? The Democrats. This isn't about the boy, or the Republicans trying to keep a seat; its about the Democrats being hippocrites and trying to take a seat.

Funny there's been nothing to suggest that the GOP is covering for Foley, there is nothing to suggest any coverup either. And until the investigation is finished and charges have been filed there is no proof a crime has even been commited YET.

I find it interesting how the Liberals are suddenly in an uproar when a Conservative has resigned for doing something we know most elected democrats do and support? Perversion is usually their exclusive domain.

To Foley's limited credit he at least resigned when confronted. I seem to recall a Kennedy just a few months ago commited a crime in DC and failed to resign, in fact the DC ppolice covered it up for the young Kennedy ? Where was the uproar then ? Hmmmm

It does not bode too properly for the GOP. in spite of the shown fact that that's customary political posturing. specially situations a social gathering blindly should help somebody through fact of social gathering "values", and not think of of the downline outcomes. Then while something like this explodes of their face they're rapid to "spin" it as though it replace right into a conspricisy of the contest. the subject is that 'values' are a subjective element. The GOP is going around telling human beings this is the social gathering of conservatives and values, after which somthing a single member does spoils the entire mindeset they have been attempting to persuade human beings have been theirs by myself. Neither social gathering has a lock on values. The GOP is suffering now through fact their individuals are basically as human through fact the dependable opposition.

It's a fact that Dennis Hastert and his "minions" covered up the Foley scandal for at least a year. Their reactions are representative of a "boys will be boys" mentality; thus, they refused to see the darker implications of Foley's pedophilia.. So much for "family values".

Just goes to show that they care far more for retaining a Congressional seat than they do about morals or safety of children.
