Harvard routinely turns down people with perfect SAT scores. The GPA alone doesn't really mean anything. Scores on standardized tests, extracurricular activities, whether you took any college-level or honors courses: all these things go into the mix. Even where you live comes into play. No one yet has figured out Harvard's admission process. The only sure bet is to have a parent who went there or be related to someone who gave them a lot of money. Otherwise, a 97% average isn't going to be enough.
Get yourself some of those college guides, like the U.S. News and World Report's annual college issue. Anyone intelligent enough to consider applying to Harvard is intelligent enough to find out more about what they're looking for.

Your GPA is only one factor they use to determine whether or not you'll be admitted. SAT scores - extracurriculars - sports - community activities, and of course the all important application - the essay portion. They also have certain designations such as foreign student or give "underprivileged" a break.
Contact the admissions office.

That is a good start, but getting in depends on other things as well.
