Why is a Sausage Biscuit from McDonalds only $1.00, but a plain biscuit, no sausage, is $1.09? It takes no extra effort to make the biscuit... in fact it takes less. Any ideas?

Very good observation and I never realized it, which is probably why it has gotten so many people. A sausage biscuit is not pre-made but rather one has to cut the biscuit open and place the sausage on the inside therefore creating less work to hand you a biscuit. What is overlooked by one is an economic boost for another.

People at McDonald's aren't quality, guess that it takes more time to get just the biscuit then the more demanded sausage. But, hey, I save myself a dollar from not eating there and instead the local, fresh coffee shop.

The thing is, fewer people want to buy the plain biscuit, so they can't sell as many, which means whatever process they're using to make empty biscuits is still costing a certain basic cost but making fewer biscuits to sell. Sort of like how sometimes brown suger is more expensive than granola, even though the latter involves much more processing.

There are far too many Mcdonald's questions in here, don't you people ever eat anything but fast food. No wonder the world is becoming increasingly overweight. And they are trying to get rid of the sausage before it goes bad, it only has a shelf life of 30 years.

Maybe the plain old buiscuit is different, or better quality than the biscuit with the saugage. Maybe they had to pay more for the plain old biscuit than the pre-made biscuit and sausage.

The sausage biscuit is on special. Other prices are not lowered for an item on special.

A good idea would be to buy the sausage biscuit and throw away the sausage....

The stand alone biscuit is a buttermilk biscuit.

The sausage biscuit is not.

Duh.

Actually, I just made that up, I have no idea if its true.

They have extra surplus on sausage and are pushing it so it doesn't go bad?

Just a guess..........

Here's one for you. How come when you go to a fast food restaurant they charge you extra if you want something extra but they don't discount the price if you order it without something?? LOL
