Citroen has come along way since the old days. They have joint partnerships with Jaguar,Ford, peugeot,Fiat developing better engines etc. As previously answered they never rot/corrode are more power full ie the new DV4/6 engines developed jointly with ford can output 110 bhp and be still very efficient and green. On top of that they are the largest seller in europe atm in sales of MPV's and are about to launch some new models AGAIN!! like the new C4_Piccaso. Citroen is a company moving forward and not sat on it's behind and make full use of all of todays technologys ie heads up display, padestrian Impact sensors and now with the new C4_Piccaso it will measure a parking spot and tell you if you can fit.

All manufacturers have their models that didn't work out and were pretty crap trust me when I say citroen isn't what it used to be and should be taken alot more seriously than some of the answers I have read in here.

Renaults and Peugeots were all made out of tin foil and hamburger packaging, but the only problem Citroens ever seem to have is suspention sphere problems, which are much easier and cheaper to fix than people realise. Personally I'd have the new C6 over a 5 series BM, it feels if anything better built and is much more exclusive. So you'll find Citroens are much better than the garbage the other French dictatorships roll out.

No they're not.
My family has had Citroens ever since i was a baby. They have had many models, from the old Safari Estate, a fantastic DS which had amazing double headlights, one set turned with the steering wheel, very handy to light up dark street corners, CX Pallas Estate, BX, XM, Xantia, now a diesel C3.
By the way, the 'ball c.ock' thing is a suspension sphere!
I personally love the older models and one day would like to get another Safari Estate or a DS.

I'm on my third and don't think they're bad. They're cars that get you from A to Z, mind you up till now my Citroens have all been bought from new, so you wouldn't expect any problems. My latest is second hand and so far is running great guns. I guess its a personal preference and you stick with what you know.

definitely bad cars. although there concepts look good- albeit after spending millions. build quality of french cars are terrible, parts start falling off, materials and finish is cheap, the brand is bad therefore it loses value very quickly. Only good thing is they are cheap second hand. cheaper than better competitors doesn't mean you are getting a better deal- when you sell it will see. Generally german is exceptional (except vauxhall) but at a price- but you will get most of it back unlike other brands(jap, french ,english).
check out whatcar.co.uk for reviews- proof that german cars are better....
lots of media slate french cars- its common knowledge that they are bad- you would be foolish to part with your money.
vw golf (car of yr), bmw 3 series, audi a4 are exceptional cars.

audi tt (new shape) which i hope to recieve next week

the mini when it came out, 2nd hand were selling at higher price than new! merceds cls too. i'd suspect the tt too due to exceptional reviews and the long waiting list.

chek out all the questions on yahoo answers- mostly people like yourself and there qs of bad cars

They are the same as all other French or italian cars. As long as you get a newish one and you don't abuse it too much it shouldn't be too bad. However I would avoid anything with complicated electronics such as the C5. A friend of mine used to own a Saxo VTR. It was great fun to drive and it was reasonably reliable.

The only good thing about Citroen is the advert!

we have had citroen cars for years, and the last one we got was second hand and it has been going for nearly 9 years, and is still going strong... I certainly think they make good cars, and they are improving them too.
