Friedel-Crafts reaction (alkylation/acylation)?

Why does polysubstitution frequently oxxur with Friedel-Crafts alkylation but not with Friedel-Crafts acylation?

think steric hindrance. you have the acyl group that blocks a lot of sites. remember with FC alkylation you do get rearrangements...
