Whenever I have my septic tank pumped (every two years), the company that does it always tells me that I need to buy some expensive liquid baterial culture material to "jump start" my septic. Is this true? Is there any benefit of this stuff, or is it a septic pumpers scam? Wouldn't a box or two of Rid-X do the same (for a fraction of the cost)?

I am a State of Arizona certified septic system designer and inspector. Using ANY bacteria (ESPECIALLY RID-X) is the worst thing you can do for your septic. Here's why: the way the system is designed, the sludge (solid waste) is supposed to settle to the bottom, allowing only the liquids to go into your leach field. When you use a product like rid-x, the bacteria churns up the sludge and mixes it into the water, causing the sludge to be sent out into your leach field. Over time, this will clog up your leach field, causing the need for costly repairs. The plan is to leave the sludge in the tank for the pumper truck, and send the water into the leach field.

Just my $.02

truly definite, if I see some exciting or suspicious questions/solutions from someone i will look into their about me and frequently even search for through their interest or maybe examine the call they have signed up with(which no one should be in a position to work out yet there's a trick to it lol). Yeah that's a touch stalkerish even with the indisputable fact that that's recommended to understand trolls and earnings perception on human beings right here. like you're a recommend Angel, what does that recommend besides?

I never have When mine is pumped they leave a couple inches in the bottom and that contains enough bacteria to restart the colony. As per the company that pumps it and I have never had a problem with my system It is pumped every 3 years

It is helpful. You do not have to buy the expensive additive. Go to the store and Buy 10 packs of yeast. That will cost about $10.00 and will do the same thing.

I thought that the bacteria was suppose to eat up the "crap" in the tank. If they pump it out, they take the bacteria with it. If it were me, I'd add more bacteria to get it going. I am no expert, just sounds right to me.
