Sunday,
The day that your income tax filing was due for income earned in 1972.
The day Roberta Flack had the #1 single on the Billboard music charts "First time ever I saw your face"
The day George W. Bush fighter pilot with the Texas Air National Guard disappeared assuming he would be called to fight in Vietnam. He moved to Alabama too help his fathers congressional campaign. He went back to Texas 5 months later after he failed to take a physical exam disqualifying him from active flight status.

It was definitely a Sunday.
There's a fancy dan algorithm called Zeller's Congruence that you can use to work it out. Or in my case, run the following in VB or VBA.
? weekday(cdate("15 April 1973"),vbMonday)

It was either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. And since it was in April...I'm guessing slightly brisk with a chance of showers.
