I prefer the South (anywhere from Nashville on south and Texarkana on east. Kentucky does NOT count!) Friendly people, warm hospitality, warm weather, fresh air, beautiful pine forests, diversity in landscapes (mountains in NC, swamps in LA, pine forests in each state, hot springs in AR,) rich and beautiful accents, great cuisine. (Plus, when you get away from the cities, you get away from those obnoxious yankees from Chicago, Detroit, NYC, California, Minneapolis, etc.)

I also don't mind the extremely lower midwest (Oklahoma and Texas). Folks there are pretty friendly.

The people of the South are warm and friendly? Wow, dude! They are the children of slave-owners. How can you go from owning slaves to warm and friendly in a few generations?

Those "obnoxious Yankees" are the ones that freed the slaves from those "friendly people" with "warm hospitalities".

LOL!

Speaking of diversity of landscapes, Michigan has all that you mentioned in one state. The oldest mountains in North America (Porcupine Mountains), swamps and bayous, millions of acres of pine forests, thousands of miles of coastline and beaches (without the hurricanes), some of the largest sand dunes in the world (along Lake Michigan), the most lighthouses in the United States, over 11,000 inland lakes, four Great Lakes, hundreds of islands, hundreds of waterfalls, and on and on.

Southwest. Beautiful, great weather, dark skies, a few big cities for culture and lots of clean, wide open spaces and mountains.

Pittsburgh. Not a 'region', but a city that combines the best of smaller-town living with urban living. Lots of good, friendly working class neighborhoods, relatively clean and safe for a city, small enough that you can get to rural areas and wilderness easily, but you still have lots of great museums, concerts, etc.

The west coast is the place for me. if you can over look drive by shooting, increase in population of illegal immigrants, freeway gridlocks, over inflated housing market, then everything else is great. The climate is phenominal. During the right season you can go skiing on top of the mountain in the morning and the go swimming in ocean in the afternoon.

I like Florida. But I have not been to many places out west. Just to the north. All the way up the coast. But I still like Florida.

Chicago, IL. Right in the ******* center. It's bone chilling cold in the winter time and overcast, and the summers are in the low 80s with VERY muggy and sticky weather which it feels like 100 out. And also, the thunderstorms in Chicago, IL are beautiful. They cool things down, they bring very heavy rain, a lot of lightning in thunder, etc. It's beautiful. Chicago, IL in THE CENTER of the city. Love the weather.

I got an unpopular answer for you. I like the south, live in south carolina and I like to go once a week to our state capital and bask in the glow from the confederate flag. I'm not white or a redneck, I just think the white man has it right on.
