Why does everyone think they go to hell?

2006-10-05 04:36:58 · update #1

Doesn't even God know when a person is severely mentally ill? Like Bolar and things of that nature

It depends on the person. I always thought hell no matter what. But there are times when even Christians struggle with depression. Mental illness is a chemical imbalance, but also a spiritual problem. Obviously a person who commits suicide is having problems. There is spiritual warfare all around us that we cannot see. So, if a person is a Christian but is struggling with depression or other demonic influences, I don't believe they are going to straight to hell. God knows a persons heart and soul and only He will decide.

To put it as delicately as possible. They get buried or cremated. Who's to judge that they go to hell, we're not God. Do you think God sends a mentally ill person to hell, it's like saying you're going to hell because you died of cancer. Please, give me a break, as soon as society accepts mental illness as a viable & deadly illness maybe the ignorant would stop saying they're going to hell & maybe there would be less suicide. Quit stigmatizing mental illness. Those people are suffering, think of it as cancer of the mind or & treat it with the appropriate medications & therapy. Get rid of the ignorant "Tom Cruise" attitudes or ways of thinking. He's no expert, neither or the others who's answered this question, nor me, but at least I'm intelligent enough to do a little research before I accept what the "hell senders" say.

Some religions see self-murder as an unforgivable sin.

Religion/ the interpretation of God is generally seen as one of opinion not fact.

For my part, if we assume God is all seeing, all knowing, all caring, then why would God ever condemn those so tormented that they took there own life.

If you are thinking about finding out the hard way don't. Go talk to someone, anyone. God would prefer you find out by talking than by doing.

Hell.

Depending on your faith, most all christians believe that a person who commits suicide goes straight to hell. It's in the Bible. The Bilbe even states that young children and (in so many words) the "mentally ill" will go to heaven.

I'm sure you will get plenty of people that dispute this, and it's their right to, so be ready for some great answers!!! Especially the people who call other's "ignorant" for what their beliefs are!

If you're talking about Heaven of Hell, then it depends on if they know the Lord or not. No sin can send you to Hell, only disbelief. Remember, belief not acts will get you into the Kingdom of Heaven.

I think they are sent back to this hell on earth (or born again) until they get through the lessons their soul came here to learn ... kinda like being left back in school until you pass the grade and are allowed to move on to the next level.

Well, dependent on what your religious preference is, some people say yes you go to Hell, others say no. But the real answer is this: To the morgue, just like everyone else.

They go to the grave and rot away just like every other dead person. I wish more people contemplating suicide would realize this!
