There are several gases coming out of the pipe.
Carbon monoxide, no smell but very toxic
Carbon dioxide, no smell, but a greenhouse gas
Nitrogen, no smell and our air is 78% nitrogen so don"t bother with it.
Oxides of nitrogen, created by your engine, can cause a burning sensation in your eyes.
Hydrocarbons, unburnt fuel, most likely your smell.
Sulfur dioxide, rotten egg smell, caused by poorly refined fuel (not the catalytic converter) can combine with water and become sulfuric acid.
And unused oxygen, also don't worry about it.

What you're smelling is hydrocarbon and unburnt fuel, but the
real danger is carbon monoxide, a deadly gas which is odourless
and colourless too.
There is a leakage somewhere inside your car and you should
have it checked and sealed off by the nearest workshop,as soon as possible.
