I am doing something that has never been done before - selling lines from one of my songs to raise enough money to promote my music. Anyone buying a line will get a share of my royalties, ultimately I just want to get my music heard. Now I already have well known companies on board, and interest from some UK Daytime shows, as well as Radio interest and BBC News interest, however the newspapers don't feel this is interesting enough for the general public. The problem is, that all the other things I have lined up (radio, tv etc) all rests on getting this story into a major Sunday or Daily paper!!
I know that this is a different story, I have done everything so far on my own, I'm not as of yet signed, I left my job to concentrate fully on this and I need some help!!! any suggestions would be greatly received.
I'm not sure i'm allowed to stick web addresses in, but if you type Jonathan Haselden into Google, my site and other site ownthissong will also come up. Many thanks. JH

You'll need to contact the Entertainment columnist directly - don't bother contacting the newsroom, this isn't their thing. If the paper doesn't list a number and email of the appropriate department and columnist, simply call the switchboard and ask for arts & entertainment's editor. Along with this, you'll want to send a fax to the paper - to the newsroom, A&E dep't, and to the attention of any individual columnists that might be appropriate. Bribing a columnist is not illegal, either, so try sending a muffin basket with a copy of your press release, or offer to pick up a lunch tab if they'll meet with you.
Good luck with this -it'll be great to see another hard working artist triumph in the face of the cookie-cutting pseudo-music machine.

You should call a press conference (usually in a hotel or public building) and invite the national press. You could also contact the Sunday papers you are interested in directly, by calling the editor and settle for the features (sub-)editor to talk to.

If all that does not get you where you want to be, feel free to send me an e-mail. I might be able to help, since I work a lot with the media.

look around and try to get a job at the paper. A journalist. But... if you don't wanna be a journalist and you just wanna get your stories in your paper then start with putting your stories in many different web sites. try freewebs.com and make your web free!!! If you want something better then get an agent to help you become a writter or something...
try also ebay or amazon.com and sell them!!! It's a good idea!!! And if you see people buing your stories then contact a newspaper company at your country, and tell them what you have!!!

It just so happens that I am a writer looking for a good story, I can't guarantee that I can get it published, but I have strong connections to this weekly alternative press newspaper that has reported on tons of things that the mainstream has later used. Write me with the details and maybe I can get something started for you...of course, I live in the USA, so....

Try metro, also your local paper
Look at programmes like lorraine kelly, or other slush on in the mornings.
Use guerilla marketing on the BBC/ITV websites.
Get a ground swell of interest -
Radio stations too.

You can e-mail, ring or text an exclusive to The Sun (for example). If it's good enough they will publish it. Mention Yahoo! Answers and how you are trying to generate interest etc. Your idea sounds good. I can't see why they wouldn't be interested.
Try:

try calling the paper and ask for a 'human activity' editor, or editor of the Sunday arts section. they're many times finding for records; in case you have a small interior sight, ask for the AP stringer or refer to the dealing with editor him/her self and clarify your prob. in case you're any good in any respect, and that i anticipate you're, or you does no longer are becoming this far, they might desire to be attracted to advertising you for the possibility - if no longer something - to assert they knew you while!

Sell them on ebay and if you get loads of interest it is bound to make the papers.
