If the offence has been proved without doubt , the terrorist deserves the hardest of punishment and deserves no clemency. Just imagine what the pakistan Government ot an innocent person in th ename of Terrorist. The Indian politicins will support any terrorist activity against thier own country if they are given some money. they know that the business of politics is for money. They themselves will not hesitate to harbour even osama Bin laden and provide him withall thenecessary support to perpetuate any destruction of life and property in india . so leave the Indian politicians who are the only unpatriotic class in the enire universe -who value mony and women's fesh much more than their own country.
it seems that the mercy petition has been filed by the wife and children of the offender .for lesser punishment .The offender does not seem to have felt any remorese for his heines crime .The hidus are not merciless against innocent people . But their veda Bhagavad Gita tells them to fight and destroy even their own fathers grandfathere, sibilings and cousins and all blodd realtives if they are perpetuating adharma. If they are on the path of sin. This is not a command for eerybody in the street . it is the cousel for the king , the warriror and administrator charged with the duty to establish Dharma . Now it is for the Government ot decide whther thir duty is to protect the intestes of the innocent ordinary people by destroyng the persons on theside of adharma . the people who agitate against the sentnce of death against this person should say on what ground thaey oppse the punishement . Is is just ecause he is a muslim and that his personal law requires him to kill evrybodyu and if they want to support that doctrine . The political parties in Inida should say how and why they support the petition for lesser punishment when they do not open their mouth aginst such punishment against some other inidvidual who kills some single person out of some personsl fued in anger ..
The president though a muslim is an Indian who has imbibed theInidan culture basically. The hindus won't do anything even if the Government releases this person .but it is incumbent on the Government to do its duty without fear or favour .
The main and most important points for any mercy , that the person has revealed the entire background and cause of his action, that he has exposed the persons and organisation behind the plot that he really regrets for his action and would guarantee good behaviour and co -operation in the fight against terrorism are wanting .
The idea may be that if he is gien a lesser punisment of mere imprissionment , he may operate form inside the cell and catch hold of ome corrupt oficial aand politician to get remission of sentence and work for his pakistan masters from within the country with the blessings of the foreigners ruling the country in the name of democracy.
In inida we have a Muslim rule (perfectly in accordance with the command of prophet mohamed and in the tradition of Aurangzeeb - punishing the non -believers and supporting the believers ) in the name of democray. In the south in Chennai we have a christian rule in the name of democray.with the de facto Prime Minister heading the state government .and supporting the LTTE.in the name of ethnic affnity. So our Gover nments are working for foreiners on some basis or other. So terrorists need have no fears to operate here .
So Afzal wil have no probelem even if he still pledges support to the Islamic terrorists of Pakistan.against India . He will be a first class citizen in India over the second class hindu foreiners .

No, not at all to begin with.
Let us see, death sentences r given in the rarest of rare cases. What makes this case rare?Well, its mere magnitude. An attack which aimed to shake the very sovereignty & democracy of our country. An attack to shatter the very foundation of Indian democracy. Is this reason not enough to hang him?
Ppl argue by saying that he just mediated the process, he wasn't actually involved.Let me tell u that acc. to the Indian Penal Code, mediating a criminal act is equivalent to executing it. A good enemy is better than a bad friend.Same is the case here. We well know the malicious minds of the terrorists. We r mentally prepared to face them but if the very citizens (if we can call them that) of the country, the civilians, do it; it is the most obnoxious & gruesome of all crimes.
If clemency is granted to him, will we ever be able to face the families of the police personnel who became martyrs trying to protect the foundation of the Indain Republic??? What impact will it have on them? On the families who've lost their sons, husbands, brothers for the sake of protecting our country against predatory aggressors like these? Aren't we belittling their Supreme Sacrifice?
Granting clemency will also boost the morale of other terrorists. They'll, with renewed vigour, start targeting our country saying that this 'oh so merciful India' will grant us clemency if we're caught. I'm sure u all have heard about LeT'S WARNING OF BOMBING THE GOLDEN TEMPLE - the Mecca of Sikhs. Terrorism needs to be dealth with toughly.
Imagine, had an average Indian citizen done anything against the terrorists, would they grant clemency?Makes u laugh, doen't that? Then y r v being so gentle & lenient?
Some idiotic, imbecilic retards say it'll have an impact on the Indo-Pak peace talks.Really? My foot! 2mrw ISI, LeT, JeM, etc. will come & merrily bomb Delhi, Mumbai,B'lore,........... the whole of India & when they're caught they'll say,' hey buddy! Howdy? Leave me or else the peace process will be harmed.' Atrotious! Here is a terrorist who tried to harm our country. How can penalising him have an effect on the so-called 'peace-process'??
V need to realise that peace cannot reign till Pakistan does something to curb terrorist activities they mediate & sponsor. Terrorist training camps r so very common in pakistan.
That goofy Afzal's wife said Kashmiris don't get justice. She can go kiss her ***! We shouldn't have tried him in a court of law.We shoud've shot him dead. Then she would've realised what justice means. I mean, c'mon, her husband will spread terrorism & we should simply sit, watch n enjoy? What bull! Her statement shows that she doesn't consider herself a part of India. She was tongue-tied when the media ppl asked her 2 justify her statement. She couldn't spk a word. I quite enjoyed that part.
On that fateful day, police personnel martryed their lives for protecting our country & those politicians. It's a shame that those blasted politicians r using their sacrifice as political gimmick. Shame & sh!t on them.
I have full faith in my President. He will definitely not grant clemency. He might, at the most, turn it 2 a life term in solitary confinement without parole. But that's okay since it's more torturous than death. We just have 2 make sure he isn't released at any cost even if other blasted dogs hijack a plane & demand his release.
Jai Hind!

The judiciary has done what was actually required. As for our President, he has not risen from a political leader but has reached the Highest Office of the country by virtue of his commitments, dedication, learning and affection for the motherland. Hence, we should rest assured, he will do the correct thing.
However, we can now see that independence of our country has given our political leaders the freedom to act as they like for their personal gains. Disrespect for law is an example of many of the 'qualities' acquired by them from this freedom to act. Their political power keeps them assured that they stand above everything, including the general public, justice and integrity of the nation. It seems, they don't have anything known as "conscience" and feel that whatever they think or do is justified. At least Ghulam Nabi Azad has proved so by proposing for clemency for a traitor and terrorist who has been convicted and awarded capital punishment by the highest judiciary. The shocking fact is that even a section of intellectuals and NGO's has joined hands in the campaign for clemency. Does it not indicate that 'freedom' is being interpreted in a different light? What should the general public do? Should it remain silent spectator or rise to fight yet another battle for liberating the country from the hands of so called political leaders who have become today's monarchs?

It's one of those double edged swords. While normally I'm all for the death penalty in these types of instances, the crazed terrorists might make a martyr out of this guy and have people who want to be just like him.
I wish there were an easy answer. If it were 1000 years ago, I'd say torture him to death - but somehow that doesn't seem like a civilized thing to do. Don't really know what is better.

I think people like that should rot in jail for the rest of their lives. I reject the death penalty for any crime. There are 2 reasons for that:
1. The countries where the death penalty exists have the bigger violence and criminality. The penalty is ineffective, due to the following reason.
2. If the state kills, it makes itself equal to the murderer. It makes killing a legitimate action. Killing should be banned for any reason, this is the only way a society shows it rejects killing. If the society practises it, the killers feel "justified" to do it also. It is irrational, but this is how it works.
3. Of course, there is also the possibility of a mistake. Even where inapplicable, it is a reason not to have death penalty
4. Killing someone in cold blood is too cruel. You will say that this is what the murderer did, but he was the murderer, I am not. If the state kills someone in my name, it puts me in the position of the executioner. Would you be the executioner? If not, you must not support the death penalty, because that is what it turns you into. If yes, still it doesn't matter, people who do not accept to be put in this place are also represented by the state.
5. Finally, I would judge with much leniency relatives of victims if they kill the murderer themselves. That, yes, but cold blood murder by the state is unacceptable.
