what is the best excuse you have had for not being at work?

My house got broken into.

because i left the house in a hurry and locked my car keys inside the house. called the office to say id be out for that reason and by mistake used my home phone and they picked my number on thier caller ID. when asked how i was using the home phone if i was indeed locked out i said its cordless. just then the doorbell rang and i answered the door by mistake. my boss heard that and I said wait someone just showed up and i think i can get in now (pause on the line!!!) decided to go to work finally, and actually locked both sets of keys inside the car this time. called a cab but had no money to pay for the ride.

In the hospital 4 days with an 'infection of unknown origin' and extremely high blood sugar caused by it...they didn't even send work to the hospital, as their laptop was down...
Extra information: I quit this job last May and they still send me work about twice a week. I guess they love me or I'm a sucker.

I once rang in and told them I had been hit by a car so I wouldn't be making it.
I thought it was pretty funny.

Doctor's appointment
School event (if you have kids)
Kid sick (again only if you have kids)
Flat tire and AAA can't come for several hours
Parents sick and need to be taken to doctors (only if they are elderly and alive)
lots more and I'm sure you will get them.

ahm... the boys of R&D have developed a new stealth suit and i was their 'guinea pig'. unfortunately it malfunction and remain stealth without going back to normal like it should be,when you thought i wasn't at work, actually i was only no one could see me
