Well can't speak for St Louis, but in the Chicagoland area the CAD draftsmen that I know only make in the high 20's to mid 30's. CAD is a system that many can learn in a short period of time and it does not require a four year degree. Just about any field that only requires limited course work or an associates will not make you the big bucks (if that's what you are seeking). Bite the bullet and go for a four year program in something that you find interesting to some degree. First and foremost try to find something that you enjoy that would provide you the income you feel is necessary to maintain a certain lifestyle. In most places in this country an income range below $30,000 puts you in a lower middle class status. Try looking into some career choices courses before making a major life decision. You need to find out what it really takes to make the living you want for yourself and then do your research into what fields you think would be interesting and provide you with the salary you want. It's not easy. But nothing in life worth having is easy.

It depends on the demand for the job.

There is nothing worse then going to school and getting a degree/diploma, only to find that it is not in demand at all.

Information systems is good to study because the world is run by technology, and there are always people needed to make the servers and databases run efficiently.

I would recommend looking at what the job market is like before you make a final decision.
