Do you feel "funny" being white?
Do you feel bad and somewhat "dirty" that your ancestors enslaved millions of blacks, and killed most of the American
Indians?
Do you feel bad and "funny" that your people hold the black man down to this day?

Again, are you ashamed, and guilty, about being "White"?

Hmmm, nope. But understand that just because someone's skin is light in complexion does not mean that they descend from racist slaveowners. My skin is white, but my family did not own slaves, nor did they support slavery. In fact, my ancestors were enslaved by the Egyptians for 400 years. (It's ironic that my best friend is a Coptic Egyptian girl.) The Assyrians slaughtered us by the thousands. They sold us as slaves to the nations, and we had no choice but to marry gentiles in order to preserve our heritage. But I don't talk badly about Modern Assyrians who live in America. I actually have serveral Assyrian friends. So you see, if I can befriend Assyrians and Egyptians without holding blame or disgust, then surely you can do the same towards "whites." Peace brother. (Shalom.)

Interesting question...

I don't think shame is a very productive emotion.
-- It over-simplifies a complex set of circumstances.
-- Some people avoid this feeling so strongly that they make up irrational explanations to explain why they don't deserve it.

Lots of white people would like to see race relations improved, but a confrontational attitude makes them seek something better to do with their time.

Suppose you asked a modern German if they were ashamed of their Nazi past... I'll bet a lot of them are.

White attitudes in the US are different because:
-- We place more emphasis on individual responsibility, as opposed to group responsibility.
-- It has been a long time since slavery was practiced
-- Unlike the Germans, we reformed ourselves, without someone forcing us to do so

Slavery is still practiced today. According to Anti-Slavery International, as many as 20 million people are slaves today. All those who decry the past American slave practices on moral grounds should be making at least as much noise about this. Unless their issue is not a moral one...

American slavery is in the past, and can't be changed. In contrast, we could do something about modern slavery.
-- -- -- -- --

Exactly what you mean by "your people hold the black man down"? Do you have any evidence to support this? And I don't mean anecdotes or dramatic stories.

To support your claim, you need to provide 1) Evidence of intent 2) Evidence of a systematic, wide-spread conspiracy.

Ashamed about being white no. After all it was the white CHRISTIANS that did all those things and since I am not a christian ( I don't even much like them) I don't have anything to feel guilty about. That is the one thing that people over look about the slave trade, it was justified on religious grounds. The bible was used to prove that the blacks, as well as the Native Americans later on, were not really human and that allowed the CHRISTIANS to treat them as badly as they did. They even forced them to give up their natural religious belief and convert to the christian religion.

MY personal goal is to get rid of the christians then we wont have the problems that exist now. It is the CHRISTIANS that are the casue of ALL the worlds ills. 9-11 was a respionse to CHRISTIAN tyranny and their efforts to forcibly convert the rest fo the world. The ida of a holy war, that is a war based on religious conauest didn't even exist until the CHRISTIANS under emperor Costantine instigated the idea that the world should be converted by the sword if necessary.

I have often wondered why those that are so fervant about the wrongs done to the slaves, don't put aside the christian beliefs that were forced upon them agains their will. With the slaveery was so wrong that ALL the things that came with it, including CHRISTIAN religion was srong too and shoudl be put aside by those that want to make a REAL statement about it. After what the Christians did to MY ancestors (Cherokee, Portuguese, Germanic, Celtic) I had no problem turning my back on that way of life forever. By continuing to follow Christian religion, they are supporting the institution that, more than any other, was responsible for the slave trade, and are dishonoring the memories of all those that suffered and died as a result of it. Those are the people taht should feel guilty, and dirty, the ones that support the organization that propogated the idea that enslaving the blacks was sanctinend by the god of the christians church. Until the black community renounces the FALSE religion of CHRISTIANITY, their objections to slavery will NEVER be taken seriously.

No, however I am trying to be. Many tell me I should be but since my father picked cotton as an Okie migrant farm worker at six years of age and I clawed my way out of the trailer park with hard work and education I have trouble identifying with and excepting the sins of the ruling class. Even though my relatives were indentured servants (that is refreshing Slavery Light same great whippings with that sweet hope of eventual freedom) and more likely to have been murdered by Pinkerton thugs and government troops in one of our nations labor uprisings/massacres than to have been sitting on the porch of the plantation sipping a mint julep I just cannot be anything but happy to have done well for myself. Keep preaching white guilt to the lower classes, when they get confused and angry looking for the splendid lives you tell them they have gained by oppressing others we get another skinhead white supremacists and some Innocent gets dragged behind a pick up truck to pay for your race baiting. Now there is something I would be ashamed of.

Saying that white people are still holding the black man down today is just a excuse. I am in no way at all racist but black people have the same oppurtunities as white people. And the way things are these days, no one is really truly white or black. So get over it. Maybe if you would spend more time bettering your life instead of mooning over something that is done and over with you wouldnt be filled with so much hate. You are the racist here.

My ancestors enslaved no one and they did not kill the American Indian. They were in Germany during this time and came to this country in the early 1900's. As a matter of fact some of my ancestors were enslaved by the Norse many hundreds of years ago. How are you held down? Is it by the whites or is it by your own feels of inferiority? So no I am not ashamed or guilty about being white it just happens to be the color I was born no more no less.

Not at all!!!!!!!! I am not resposible for what anyone has done in the past and what anyone does today or in the future. The only thing that concerns me is that most of the whites and black still dont get along.I have no shame,no guilt about being white.I have never disrespected a black nor have I killed a Indian. My question to you is are you ashamed that you have to ask such a uneducated question?

Not at all. This is not the 1700s. I had nothing to do with it. Are you ashamed that almost every robbery and murder and drug crime you see on the news is a black person that did it. 9 out of 10 is what I see. That would make me very ashamed of my race. Welfare fraud, Rape, Should I go on?

I think you should check the facts on your welfare statement. You couldnt be farther from the truth.

Not in the least . I have no reason to be . That unfortunate things happen in history is , well history . It happened and it was unfortunate . Those , such as yourself , who choose to use that as your "permanent victim status"; and a ticket to hold yourself down , are just promoting lack and a case of the "gimmies". I had nothing to do with slavery and you weren't a slave . Try and realize that fact . You choose to hold yourself down and absolve yourself from reality by placing blame . Blame yourself ; and the liberal agenda who made you think that way . Don't let them tell you that you are a victim. You don't have to be one .

No, If the Indians had come to Europe first they would have done the same thing. Human nature is the same regardless of skin color.

If you don't agree, then you're only fooling yourself.

You seem to be forgetting something. The Egyptians enslaved the Jews.
