how long before they lay there, do you have to pick them up?? I mean, who else's husband is a total slob?? Or, do you throw a fit and make him do it?? Would a hamper help?

No a hamper doesn't help...He throws them in the floor in front of the hamper. I usually leave them there about two or three days.

I am actually go thru this myself...My house is a mess but its because i am trying to prove a point that I am not their slave. I have three kids so you can imagine.

They have just stared asking...why they don't have clean clothes..they are all capable. So now they are realising if they want..they have to do.

By the way..with hubby its just not the hamper..Okay..My trash can is beside the counter....and it has a foot petal to lift automatically..why can't they and he throw it in the trash..they pile it up ontop of the counter next to the trash can. What is that???

Nope your not alone! But you know what..I don't pay mortgage so the joke is on him.HE HE

A hamper would most definately help, but we don't have room for one in our bedroom. I don't have to throw a fit. When I see him throw it on the floor, I ask "Is that dirty?" When he answers that it is, I ask "Then why is it on the floor?" I'll just stare at him, and then he'll put in the hamper.

Ironically, the same questions work with clean clothes that he has tossed about. At the very most, they're put away the next morning.

My husband throws his underwear on the floor, but he usually puts them in the hamper the following morning. It's not a stack, just the one pair. I don't throw a fit because, in the bigger picture, it's just underwear and he's a fabulous husband otherwise. I'm usually picking up my underwear too, so I just grab his and they get tossed in the hamper together.

It is really about the underwear or is there something else going on? Are you choosing the underwear as a battle ground for something else? Just wondering...

From the floor, to the bin. He obviously doesnt need them anymore. (Maybe a very big hamper would do the trick). Or kick them under the bed and wait until he runs out and asks for clean underwear. Tell him if it is not in the washing, then you have no idea. Let him be inconvenienced as well.

Try a hamper. If he won't use it, tell him that anything on the floor will be considered trash and throw it away. When he runs out of underwear, he'll get the message.

My husband used to do that, I got tired if it, let them pile up, then when he ran out of clean underwear I just batted my eyes at him and told him that if clothes are not put into the laundry room hamper I don't wash them. He puts his clothes in the hamper now.

LOL - Too funny most men do this and will till' their told not to. No, you need not handle them you already do don't you by putting them in the washer, dryer and folding them then putting them away, isn't that enough?!

You can get a clothes basket and put the basket directly in the same spot where he throws them, at first he will not realize what it is there for and he'll ask what the basket is doing in the middle of his road, simple tell him it is there to catch his dirty clothes and you don't appreciate having to pick them up and you won't, he will get tired of walking around it and looking at but he will also start to use it eventually andyou need to leave it there till' he does and gets into a habit say about a week or so, at this point you'll know he is ready for it to be move by him moving the basket around and kicking it from side to side, now you are rady for step two - you can move it to an appropreate spot and he will be in the habit and just put them in there, it may not be the spot you want it to be in b/c you have to make it easily available for him to throw them in the basket. if he starts doing it again move the basket again to his pile spot you might have to do this about three times but it worked for me....

A hamper would maybe help. Just leave them there, DON'T pick them up, DON'T wash them. When he runs out of clean underwear he'll get the point.

I use to be a big slob, never left under lying around though that's nasty, and my wife just let things slide for a while and I realised how nice it is to have a clean and orderly house. I now pick-up a lot more after myself but once in a while I need a kick in the pants to remind me.

they will lay there until YOU pick them up. If you get him a hamper he will probably throw the clothes on top of the hamper. I guess it is better than him throwing them on the floor.
