Put ice on your hand and don't spank the monkey until the swelling goes down :)

Good Luck

I was going to say ice till I read the rest that you have a cut also go to wal-mart buy a gallon jug of apple cider vinegar for $3.00 get a bowl pour enough to cover your hand soak for at least an hour do this a couple times a day at least until it's healed. The vinegar will draw the swelling out any infection everything it will heal it. I had toenails totally removed and that was the only medicine the doctor prescribed, it also helps relieve the pain.

Ice but dont put it directly onto the skin as it will cause a burning effect. Put the ice in a tea towel (for example) then apply to the swelling area. Use some antispetic cream afterwards when swelling has gone down. You should be better after this. It takes a while to get swelling down so dont expect miracles straight away!

If it is a serious cut, you have to go to the doctor to make sure it isn't infected, Is it oozing pus? Is the area reddened? Is the area arouind the cut tender to touch? Is the area warm to touch? If you answer yes to any of these questions, it may be sign of infection. If y ou are sure it's ok, then ice is good, but you also need to elevate it above the level of your heart. That will help with the swelling. Maybe use some type of sling? Or, if your sitting or lying, prop it up on some pillows.

Ice for 15 min. then let it warm up. After a while put the ice back on again for another 15. Put med on it so it doesn't get infected. And keep it clean!! I had the samething last week on both of my thumbs. Couldn't use my thumbs for a week.
