Wow! I thought Curlews were extinct. I guess I took that movie "Last of the Curlews" too seriously. Anyway, below is a like that should help answer your question.

curlews, there are quitr a few round abouts where i live, they seem to feed and nest where the grass is long and they can keep an eye out for predaters, there is always a water sauce within 100 yards, stream, beck etc

Curlews feed on salt water mud flats, using thier long beak to probe the mud for food. they nest inland in grassy fields.
