i dont know about anyone else, but i wear the same clothes all year long. jeans and t shirts. hoodie or sweatshirt in the cold.
i dont understand this whole, "fall fashion" "summer colors" business. what's the difference as long as your comfortable?
maybe its because my mother didnt raise me as a fashion consious prep (no offense meant. i just cant think of what else to call all you mainstreamers.)
maybe it's because i dont care and i like wearing black all year.
let me know what you think.

Different strokes for different folks

I was a "plain pockets jean" guy all the way thru high school, back in the olden days. I know how you feel.

1. People do in fact treat you differently when you dress differently. I know, they shouldn't, but they do. If I wear a tie and nice shirt to work, my customers treat me much differently than if i wear a dirty tee shirt and flip-flops.

2. One of the reasons people treat you differently is that your attire can say, "I belong here." If you're at a wedding but wearing gym shorts, then that says, "I don't belong here" or worse yet, "This isn't really a wedding." If you're in gym, but wearing a miniskirt and F-M shoes, then everyone assumes that you're looking for a "date" and not wanting to play basketball.

3. One of the things that clothes / attire says about us is that we're healthy (or not healthy). People want to associate with healthy and happy people. That, quite frankly, explains why athletic attire is always sooo popular in situations were no one is working up a sweat.

4. Another thing that is can say about us is that we're happy (or unhappy). Think about it... if you wear a dirty tee shirt that says, "Men suck" along with a pair of jeans that obviously fell out of the Salvation Army trash pile, most people assume you're not exactly a happy person. We won't EVEN cover Goth here. People want to be around happy people.

I know what you're saying, "why should it matter if I'm comfy", but the world isnt' wired that way, and that includes your school, job and family. It's not worth fighting, cause you'll never win. Find a way to be comfy in clothes that are more appropriate, and you'll have one less battle to fight.

Everybody has their own sense of style. If you are comfortable and like the way you dress, then it doesn't matter what other people think.
Not everyone who dress in "fall fashion" or "summer colors" or whatever are following trends. Some of us are just dressing for the season and the weather. Darker colors and heavy fabrics can get too hot in the warmer months. While pastels and light weight fabrics don't always keep you warm enough in the cooler months.
