We got rid of the cradle cap on our daughter's by using Head & Shoulders shampoo. Went away in about 2 weeks of using it.

My daughter had a bout with that at even 18 months. We just rubbed baby oil into her scalp and let it sit for at least a half hour and then shampooed very well and combed out the dry crusty bits which were softened by the oil. It went away after a few days and has not returned 6 months later. Somehow my husband was better with the technique than I was and he was able to get more out at a time.

my son was a baldie when he was born....It wasn't until about 1 that he got some hair....and the cradle cap (or crap as i called it) was there for months.....everyday before bath soak his head in baby oil, use a fine tooth comb and comb the stuff that comes loose (don't scrape it off since it may make his scalp bleed and then you'll have scabs), wash his head with baby shampoo after that. Sometimes I did it more than once a day if it was really bad

I think it can have something to do with a fungal infection like what causes ringworm or yeast infections. My son had it when he was a baby. I would just douse his head with baby oil and leave it on for awhile then do some gentle scrubbing and comb the large flakes out. It does take a lot of shampooing to get the oil out though. As long as it doesn't cause too much buildup so that her hair starts breaking and/or falling out then it's probably no big deal.

My son is 3 and it's just now starting to go away. I took him to a dermatologist because I've tried every suggestion, shampoo, home remedy, etc. and he recommended P&S Liquid and Shampoo. You can get it at any drugstore. It works. It says to keep the liquid on overnight, but it's messy. I put it on 20 mins before bathtime and use a fine tooth comb to comb it out and follow with the shampoo. After using this for about a week I noticed a HUGE difference. Good Luck.

You can try to comb it out with baby oil or go out and buy a cradle cap kit. Head and shoulders works as well...but I wouldnt risk getting it in my babie's eyes.

My daughter had it until she was almost 2. What finally worked for us was baby sunscreen. We had taken her to a picnic and I put some on her head so her scalp wouldn't get sun-burned, and that night it all combed right out of her hair, and that was that. So try baby sunscreen or even baby lotion might work. It just softens and loosens the stuff so you can comb it out. And it's easier to get these out of the baby's hair than baby oil, which is a pain to get out.
P.S.- I disagree with the person who said to use a nit comb, that seems harsh, and no, it's not caused by not getting shampoo residue out of her hair, it's just a normal thing for babies.

I haven't used this company for cradle cap, just excema, but it was the only thing that cleared up Owen's excema. He was even on prescritptions. It was so bad his cheeks would bleed, so I highly reccomend it. Try the brand Gentle Nautrals. It even smells great!

A pediatric nurse told me to do this years ago and it worked. Use regular dandruff shampoo in her hair and while the shampoo is still in her hair use a FINE tooth comb and comb it making sure your getting through to the scalp. Then rinse as usual.

baby oil...and a nit comb..cradle cap is caused by not scrubbing her head and getting all the shampoo residue off the scalp
