I had the pleasure of studying there on an extra-mural studies program in 1986. While London was wonderful and is the major tourist city, I found more warmth and charm in Cambridge, Stratford-on-Avon, York, Canterbury, Bury-St. Edmonds (the most gorgeous stained glass), Dover, Trumpington and Windsor. Because our "side trips" were structured by the interdisciplinary classes I took, I missed getting to Scotland and Wales, which was disappointing.
You have a beautiful country. Of course, being 25% English and 25 % Welsh, I'm not partial or anything... Someday, I would like to return so that I can visit the church outside of Birmingham (in Smethwick) to which my grandmother sent funds to aid in the rebuilding effort after it was bombed in the war. I understand there is a stained glass window dedicated to her as thanks for her contribution. I would love to see it someday.

So I do want to apologize for not being able to answer the question, but from what I have seen on t.v, you have a beautiful Country and anyone that is lucky enough to be able to travel there I'm sure would find many beautiful places and people. Have you ever been to America? Or traveled to other countries?

Edinburgh (the spousal unit is 3/4 Scots).
We've been to London, Edinburgh, Stirling, Oban, Glasgow, & Aberdeen.
I personally would like to visit Bath, Greenwich and the Lake District, but I can't tear him away from Scotland.

Many others have given you some sturdy responses on visas and artwork and so on, yet i will attempt to fill in the gaps. i p.c. to recommend a bypass to, consistent with probability over a summer season to work out what the united kingdom and London is like, to work out in case you like it. that's totally high priced, besides the undeniable fact that because of the recession its no longer as undesirable because it as quickly as became. in case you're nonetheless purpose on coming over as you haven't any longer have been given any family members connection, I recommend you get a job in a multinational business enterprise to sponsor an ex-pat relocation to the united kingdom. this would assist you to establish and supply you a help community. besides the undeniable fact which you would be able to desire to income right here and that's arranged by your guy or woman college i assume, yet be conscious there are presently somewhat some communicate in government approximately clamping down in this way of immigration. As for existence right here, London and another cities are very cosmopolitan. Lodnon rather is a international in a city. in case you could cope with how busy it rather is (its plenty plenty busier than long island), then you definately will probable fit in. you will desire a tolerant, open, cosmopolitan suggestions-set to slot in right here as that's totally liberal and multicultural in London (much less so the extra beneficial you bypass oustide). Oh and one final element Brits and for that Europeans rather do no longer in basic terms like the stereotypical loud, niaive Amercian, so its a stable theory to do somewhat analyze and save your voice down once you're over :-) human beings have a tendency to be extra reserved. permit me understand in case you ahve the different Q's
