An enzyme that converts cellulose to sugar (to be distilled to alcohol later). I'm hoping future research makes it cheap enough to be able to convert lawn clippings to fuel.

Lots of people are making fuel out of used french fry oil & diesels need only minor changes to run it. Find a mechanic who is familiar with diesel and hook up with a restaurant that does a lot of french fries. In the cities, they may even pay you to haul away the old oil.

Why dont you make a project on biodiesel. Seeds of a plant called jatropha can be used to make cheap biodiesel and glycerol is obtained as a byproduct. Plus jatropha grows on barren land.
