Pathology is the study , first of all, of cell abnormalities. Here are a few examples of cellular abnormality:

atrophy
hypertrophy
hyperplasia
metaplasia
dysplasia
necrosis
apoptosis

here is a great website to help you out with the definitions and explanations of cellular abnormality and diseases that are a direct relation to those abnormalities.

hope that helps :)

Well cell membrane abnormalities usually pertains to the absence of essential receptors and channels in them. Receptors and channels are mostly transmembrane proteins.

One of the disease called cystic fibrisis is caused due to the absence of a ABC type ATPase pump called the CFTR (Cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator), which functions primarily to pump chloride out and into the cell. The lack of such a transporter causes a accumulation of chloride outside the cell, which is passed out into sweat. CFTR channels are prese nt in apical membranes of epithelial cells in the lungs, kidneys, pancreas and other tissues. It causes differant problems to differant organs, like in lungs it causes accumulation of mucous and thus blocks the air pathways. The exact mechanism of the disease onset is not known

ha ha i'm doing the comparable essay, have been given given the duty right this moment, are you in Newcastle college? in case you goto a seek engine and variety in "abnormalities of cellular membranes" interior speach marks then it truly is going to arise with a itemizing of issues yet some off the precise of my head are:- cystic fibrosis, scyzophrinia (can no longer spell) sicle cellular anemia and alzhimers (back can no longer spell) there are various issues accessible and that i'm optimistic you will locate some extra. good success and that i'm hoping this could be a help!

1. Nerve cell degeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD) is
associated with abnormalities in membrane phospholipid
(PL) metabolism: Glycerophosphocholine (GPC), a water
soluble catabolite of membrane PL, is increased in AD brain.
2. Membrane-destabilizing processes and hemodynamic shifts
are more expressed in subjects with arterial hypertension
working in the duty regimen. The levels of intracellular calcium
and sodium are increased, activities of Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase
and Ca(2+)-ATPase decreased; total peripheral vascular
resistance and left ventricular myocardium are progressively
increased.

not sure what the exact abnormalities are, but they can cause reduced/increased viscosity in RBC's, schizophrenia, alzheimer's, leukemia etc.

I think a abnormality with the phoslipids in brain cells can cause alzheimers.
