I lived right next to Paddington until a couple of months ago. It is certainly safe to walk from there to Little Venice at this time: this is a nice neighbourhood in the centre of London, and you'll probably see a lot of tourists carrying suitcases at the same time! That said: (1) you have to wind your way to get there as it is rather a maze of railways lines, motorway overpasses (for the A40), and canals so it's easy either to get lost or find you have to pick your way across a major road junction, and (2) the weather is pretty miserable right now in october so it's a bit wet.
Your best bet (depending upon where in Little Venice) if you have luggage is to aim to walk across westbourne terrace and then to Paddington rather than try and get through via the Paddington basin.

Depending on the time of the year, 6pm can be a nice summer evening with lots of people around or it can be a wet dark winter evening with the streets pretty deserted.
I'm afraid that pretty much anywhere you go in London these days you have to be careful. Once it was a lovely safe city to walk around in but unfortunately there are a lot of nasty people living here now.

Little Venice is one of the most exclusive and expensive areas to live in. It's a W9 postcode.

Yes, it should be fine... if you are really worried and it is dark, just don't walk along the canal, stick to the road.

It is normally quite busy in the evenings though, with people going home from work so you should be fine.

I've done it in the daytime with no problems. It's generally a good area. I think you'll be more bothered by the rain than anything else.

You'll be fine-it normally a nice walk but probably not in this weather.
