Do Americans expect all nations are against them?

They believe our Federal Reserve is a government institution, and don't realize it's privately owned by foreign banks.

They belive our government represents THEIR interests, and do not understand that our government corporation serves itself, to the extent that with the Patriot Act it has moved to protect itself from US, and remove OUR protections from IT.

They believe patriotism is supporting our government, INSTEAD of protecting and supporting its PEOPLE.

They believe party loyalty is loyalty to our nation, not realizing that you CAN'T be both.

They believe "nice names" for policies make them good policies, not realizing the Patriot Act and recent "torture" legislation diminish our rights and protections from our own government, and make ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS "potential terrorists" or "enemy combatants" under extremely vague interpretation.

They believe capitalism is part of democracy, not realizing the two aren't very compatible.

They believe sending our soldiers off to die in an invasion of a country with no WMD's, no Saddam-Ossama connection, and no 9-11 connection, where over 100, 000 civilians have been killed because of our presence, and over 3,000 of our own have been killed, is SOMEHOW bringing that country the "gift" of freedom...while they allow our President to strip US of ours.

They believe in an America that has ALREADY been re-defined, primarily by the Patriot Act. We are no longer the country they fantasize that we are.

They believe that anything that offends their sensiblities is an attack on them, and feel this gives them right to deny the "offender's" civil liberties/rights, while they play the victim in their own attack.

They believe their supposedly Christian "morality" of religious origin should be the basis for Constitutional changes, even though the Constitution forbids this as oppression, their source is JUDAIC scripture not in the original Bible, is quoted out of context, and isn't Christian at all.

They believe terrorists threaten our freedoms and liberties, when ONLY our own government can do that...and already has.

They believe we are righteous for invading Iraq, while they totally ignore the atrocities governments are committing in South America, Africa, and China.

They CONFUSE our nation of PEOPLE with our government. In this way they have condemned our Constitution, our historical ideals, and our way of life, while they claim patriotism.

They CLAIM to love America, yet they are the ones supporting it's Constitutional, civil liberties and freedoms changes, and the diminishing of our civilian protections our forefathers and soldiers of every war our nation has fought have died to preserve.

They believe what makes them feel good, regardless of reality.

Then they go shopping.

Wow, some of these answers are amazing. It's incredible how quick people make generalizations about Americans. Next time you are about to say something like "All (insert group of people here) are (insert generalization here)", stop and think about it first. What makes you feel that way? What evidence do you have to support that view? It's highly unlikely that your statment is true, and it is much more likely indicative of some issue YOU are dealing with.

With that rant aside, I'd say that it certainly does seem like the world is against America at times. Of course it isn't true, and there are a lot of countries that consider America a close ally, but there is so much anti-American sentiment portrayed in the media, and on sites like this, that it's easy to see how such a perception could arise. Having said that, I'd say NO, not all Americans think the world is against them.

There are lots of different beliefs among Americans. We are an affluent people but not a traveled nor worldly people.

Our government has smothered us with propaganda and many
of the people believe it.

We Americans have to learn that we are not the moral leaders of the world, that our allies have opinions too, and that we MUST work together to solve problems, not just ride on the coattails of
Uncle Sam.

Be patient with us. We are not bad folk, but perhaps are a bit
naive and arrogant. We will mature in time.

Most Americans know that we live in the best country on earth. Unfortuantely every country has a few downsides though. At least in American we're not worried sbout people taking our country over.

No

But they are constantly amazed when they see people don't agree with them. Americans really are basically good people, despite certain political leaders.

Americans suffer from a lack of humility and ignorance of anything beyond their borders.

But this also makes them poor imperialists.

All in all, a good trade off. Beware the super power that is very knowledgeable about YOUR countries' affairs...

NO, but I have heard from many people who are not Americans that Bush is worse than Hitler. I dont think most people are against Americans as much as they are against our President

We still have allies, but it seems we've made more enemies than friends the last few years. This is probably because of shortsignted and foolish US foreign policy, plus the fact that many countries just do not like the US because it's currently the only superpower.

Right now we expect some Islamic states to be against us and we expect states governed by dictators and repressive governments to always be against us. Because of Bush, more progressive governments are treating us with caution but consider this: NO ONE IS AFRAID TO SAY WHAT THEY THINK OF THE USA.

I wonder why that is? Could it be because we respect their right to say what they think?

What do you think?

I believe many nations love America and if you have traveled abroad as I have then surely you must already know this.

What others do not like about America is it's current administration and it's failed policies and ideas.
