That's part of having stretched piercings...it never really goes away. It's part of how skin "works" Remember, your skin is always regenerating and the dead layer has to go away eventually. Think of it like leaving a wristwatch with a plastic band on your arm for 3 days...you're gonna have the same "cheese" on your arm. As you stretch your lobes, the surface area in direct contact with the jewelry increases, therefore the area of skin that's regenerating increases, therefore the accumulation of the cells that have been discarded increases, hence, "ear cheese."

Even healed piercings require regular upkeep.
It's part of my daily routine...brush teeth, shower, rinse off ear cheese, brush hair (OK, goatee, I'm otherwise bald), etc.

It takes a while for it to stop. How longs is "long after they have healed"? Just because they don't hurt any longer doesn't mean they are healed. Sounds like possible infection. Might be you need some other material.

I put neosporin on my holes and it works pretty well or use hydrogen perioxde.
