I joined the New York City Church of Christ 6 years ago.
I joined the group because I was looking for purpose in my life, and I needed other people like myself to help me live out that purpose which is making it to heaven and helping others do the same.

However the group didnt change me it was the bible, and my time spent on my knees praying to God.

Because a group can never change a man, a man changes himself. But its great to have like minded friends....

Matthew 7 message
21-23"Knowing the correct password—saying 'Master, Master,' for instance— isn't going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.' And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.'

If your looking to join a church hit me up

Hi there!
By "religious group" do you mean like a bible study or some such thing? I do attend church. It is non-denominational and it has many groups and things. I have not joined any as of yet, but when I was younger I was involved in some kids groups at my other church. I really liked it. A note about the word "religious":
Before you consider joining a group, check them out beforehand. If it is through your local church, ask people who are in the group. I give this warning because there are groups out there that call themselves "religious" but twist christian beliefs to thier own ends. Such as in cult groups. I have included a link to cultwatch to help you.
I hope this helps

no but a lot of my friends have and they have changed for good! they joined because of their parents and they just look at things differently and take things easier its just nice to understand things and find a way to respect others and still be you're self. i want to join a religious group but to better my self and learn how to respect other people like you and i like the fact that every body around you would respect you back..

It's ironic that several of your respondents say no, perhaps they should look on their birth certificates. I was born CofE, according to my birth certificate, was Christened, and attended carol services before Christmas. Oddly I had no choice in this matter, my parents named me, selected my religion and sent me to a Grammar School (which is Anglican because the UK is deemed an Anglican state). I no longer practice religion, believing that organised religions are divisive, not accepting, which doesn't tally with what Jesus said, according to the bible.

I am a priestess of the goddess, Isis. I did not join this "group" but I was born into it and have always been part of her temple. It has brought me great peace, some wisdom I hope, and the keys to many mysteries.

I was part of this cannabalisticdominating cult, that, sadly enough, most of the world recognizes:

Christianity.

I explored other belief systems, finding them all to be lacking.
In the process I realized that I could not believe in something that I couldn't prove exists (God), so I did away with all religion.

Then I became a Pastafairans. Look it up.

No.

But I went with my brother's to an amusement park... That scared the $@#^& out of me.

Yay! Love Jesus, children! ...

On the car trip home the leader wanted to see how much road kill he could run over - all the kids were cheering him on... I hid in the back and kept quiet.
