Quite a long time if you broke it. If only bruised not as long. Try ice in a baggie right on the skin for 20 minutes. You must feel a prickly sensation or burn for the ice to do any good. Try 4 times a day. Alternate with very hot hot packs, also for 20 minutes. The ice lets the muscles relax and the hot packs help with the bruising.

My mother fractured her tailbone when she was 12,she is now 74,and has had troubled with it all her life on and off.

i fractured my tailbone..guess what, it doesn't heal..it just won't hurt after awhile..might flare up..they will tell you to take ibubrofen and rest. can't even x-ray down there for reproductive reasons
about the sprots...are you a warrior? get out there and play..like i said, take like 3-4 ibuprofen and you'll be fine...might be ok by that point anyway

I cracked mine when I was a kid. I can't remember how long it took for it to heal, but it was a long time. Man, it hurt like hell!
