Try planting a small indoor herb garden. They smell great and some (like thyme and rosemary) even have pretty flowers. They are very easy to grow and take care of, and most will be safe for kids and animals. (Check online or with a garden center first to be sure.) You could even plant some catnip especially for the cat. And as an added bonus, you will have a steady supply of fresh herbs for cooking. Good luck!
