The son is seven times older than the grandson.
The speaker is 12 times older than the grandson.

Let the grandson's age be x.
Then x + 7x + 12x = 100
20x = 100
x = 5

So the grandson is 5, the son is 35, and the speaker is 60.

randomly choosing 60 as grandfather's age, I got 1/12 of that: 5 years old for the grandson and 7x that: 35 years, for the son.

60 + 5 + 35 = 100.

Good guess huh?
