The advantage of being a teacher, especially of a subject you love, is that you will learn more about your subject preparing to teach your subject than you would just as a student. You will actually become a repository for this body of knowledge, a living book, if you will, and the information you dispense to others will be flavored and seasoned with your personality, your wit, your personal insights and understandings.

There may be many other instructors in your field, but there will be only one YOU, and therefore you're instruction will be unique; there are students that you can reach that no one else can. You will provide them with a perspective for seeing this field of knowledge through your eyes. You are their mentor, their role model, their inspirator and friend; they will remember you and your input into their life, and you have an opportunity to shape their world. Your influence will be second only to their parents. By pouring into them, you are reproducing yourself and your personal excellence. Whether you love your subject, hate it or are indifferent to it, they will know, and will be unchangably marked by the spirit and fire that you bring to the moment.

Your impact can be as little as handing out a few passing grades or as great is inspiring an entire educational revolution that spans beyond your generation. There are many potential professors, leaders, diplomats, scholars and educators out there disguised as wayward adults and confused kids; many of them will pass through your classes for the chance to "taste your cooking" and be impacted for life by your words, wisdom and passion; what will you do with that opportunity? "The one who instructs a child changes the world."

Go for it, my dear! And may your students never, ever forget the time spent under your tutelage...

Teachers are often the only posistive role model a child see's all day. That is why it is often said that they are social workers, nurses, teachers and above all someone to for a child to talk to. One of the most important advantages you will get if you decide to become a teacher is the overwhelming feeling of every day when you get up out of bed and go to work you can effect someone's life for better or worse. Teacher's roles in society as a whole vary. We can be life savers if we think a child is being abused by calling Child Welfare services and reporting the possible abuse. We can cheer them up if they are having a bad day, and we can often be a mediator between them and their parents if there are problems. Yes, teachers are very important because without them society would probably never evolve because their would not be anyone to explain things to people that may need this. On a lighter note one of the many benefits is summer. Also as one person mentioned having just one child come back to you and thank you for teaching them just one thing should be inspiration enough. However you need to remember as a teacher you are affecting young lives everyday and you should always try to make it a positive experience everytime they come to your classroom. Yes teachers are allowed to have bad days, but no we are not allowed to take it out on our students no matter how bad we want to. There will be days when your students will try your last nerve and you will wonder why did I ever decide to do this, but remember that not everyday will be like that and it is the days that just one child gets it that makes it all worthwhile.

Teaching, like any type of service profession, is rewarding. Other than that, there is not much in terms of benefits. You have to do it because you love and because you know your efforts make a difference. Acutally teachers are one of the few professions with a decent retirement plan and most teachers come back and teach another ten years after they retire, essentially double dippoing.

I am a teacher...well...you'll gain alot of personal qualities once you become a teacher. first of all...you 'll become something like a model for your students...they 'll start asking you for advice...If they like you alot...some of them may start copying you in things that you do... The most thing I like about teaching is the feeling that you made a difference in someone or that you added something ; it's a fantastic feeling when your students come later after you stopped teaching them for along time just thanking you for something, or just asking about you and telling you their news. It's the feeling that you are remembered and that you made a difference to someone. You'll also gain alot of self - confidence...more than you think...you'll also gain the ability of being very tactful, you also be much more patient. I wish you luck.
