Everyone asks what you want to have, and then they get irritated when you answer you don't care, just a happy healthy baby is all that's important to you. Why do people not take that answer, and drop the question? It seems like everyone keeps pursuing the question until you tell them boy or girl.

I want to know what I'm having, but everyone wants to know if you want a boy or a girl, and I don't care if it's a boy or girl. sorry, I don't think I explained that earlier.

I know, I can defenitevely relate, I hate that question, all I could answers was I don't care, because I really didn't. Now I found out we are having a baby girl and the questions has changed to "oh, and are you happy?" or " was it what you wanted?" which really bothers me too.of course I am happy, I would be happy if I was expecting a boy too, what are you gonna do, not love your son?? I hate those questions and also the fact of people wanting to rub my belly......

I don't know why people do this. Some people just have strong preferences on wanting to have boys or girls. My dad was hoping for my baby to be a boy, since he only has daughters and granddaughters. My husband wanted a girl. I would have liked for my first to be a boy since I'm the oldest and always wanted an older brother.
Now I have a happy, healthy 2-year old girl, and I'm perfectly happy with my baby, which is all that matters.

Well.......I don't know, I don't do that. And with all of mine, when people asked, I knew what I wanted. My mother died 2 months before I got pregnant with my first, so I had to have a girl to name after her. I got one. When the second was born, I wanted a girl cause the first one went so well, I got another girl, with the third, I was pretty set on girls and really wanted one more. I was actually dissapointed when they told me it was a boy. My husband was dancing around like and idiot though! After like 4 hours, we were at home asleep and I smacked him and was like It's A BOY!!! All of a sudden, I was so excited, I couldn't stand it! I think everyone has a preference, they just sometimes don't want to tell. That is their business and they don't need someone bothering them about it.

I think because we live in a gender-biased society really. People aren't content with hearing 'I just want a healthy baby' because they don't want, they can't believe you don't have a preference for one gender over the other. We live in a society that thinks women and men are sooooo different - when in actuality, the differences within the genders is actually greater than the differences between the genders. But that's the way people thing - they, in their minds, 'know' that deep down in side you have a gender preference, because that's how their mind operates. Good for you, keep on saying it doesn't matter, don't give in!

everyone asks to see if you found out the gender. That is cool if you don't find out. Most peoples intentions are that they do want you to have a healthy baby. They only get irritated when you act like they don't want you to or that you are upset for them asking... also because they feel guilty for asking because you don't know.

I told everyone that I just didn't want to know---that I wanted it to be a surprise. Why not, right?
People want to be able to get you gender specific items for gifts. If you told them it was a girls...you would get all kinds of frilly pink stuff...the boy would get sporty blue stuff.
I was told that the ultrasounds are usually only about 15% accurate anyway---people have been told the wrong sex.
Just ignor any derogatory comment against you deciding to find out the gender. And, just deal with telling people the reasons over and over again. :-) Congrats!

Like someone said, a lot of people have a preference. I did, I would've loved to have a girl, but I wouldn't have been any less happy with a boy, so I understand what you are saying. Just tell them you want a surprise!

I agree with you. Once a person asks and you tell them you want a healthy baby it shouldn't matter. The person who asks should be content knowing that you will love the child just the same whether the child is a boy or girl.
Congrats on your baby. I will pray that he or she will be healthy.

Maybe your frustration with the questions is starting to come out in your answer. You could just say, well I DO want to know, but I have no preference. Maybe that will stop some of the irritation from questioners.

Hi there hun...You know hun, you dont have to give anyone any reasons for feeling the way you do. Youre right, as long as your baby is happy and healthy, that is the only thigs that matters. Youre blessed to be having a baby whether boy or girl - if people dont understand you, does it really matter? xxx
