Ok, maybe I was harsh on the banning stuff. Maybe those ads should be placed early in the morning or late at night, no when you're having dinner with your whole family, its unethical and unfair. Wome's hygiene is a very delicate thing. Plus they don't show on TV how to deal with menstruation or periods, I mean girls learn about in class, with friends, books and their parents. TV ads don't provide any info here, hello!! I'm sorry I'm not ignorant or disgusting just face it, most people don't like this kind of thing. Last week i saw this ad where a women how to treat oral thrush, this is nasty man, u cant place such ads on TV. I dont give a s_h_i_t if nobody agrees with, its just how a feel. U want the right info on tampons, u wont get it on TV, u go to the supermarket or a pharmacian or a doc and ask them.

I agree they should be banned but for a whole other reason, they should be banned because they advertise unhealthy products in a way in which makes women feel negatively about their own bodies – i.e. 'you must shove this scented bleached wad of material into your vagina, risking everything from infections to death, because during menstruation we think you are smelly and gross'. Reduce tampon advertising we reduce tampon sales and so reduce the cost on the environment, the health costs and the cost on women's attitudes towards their own bodies.

Now with that said, the very reason we have such harmful products is because women are not aware of their bodies or the issues involved with tampons or other menstrual options, we still live in a world where some people deem menstruation and menstrual products as "disgusting". There is nothing disgusting about it, what is disgusting is this level of disrespect towards women and their bodies and it is just this disrespect and negative attitude that reflects on society as a whole and so puts women into a position where they feel embarrassed about their normal bodily functions – if we did not have menstrual taboos women would be happier and healthier.

In this century girls and women don't know how to use tampons, commercial tampons are the most harmful out of over twenty menstrual options, this is not just because of the lesser known risks such as chemicals used but we are also talking common sense that is simply missed because women are taught not to think too much about menstruation. TSS cases, infections and other tampon related health problems are also increasing again because women are not concerned about the risks, most women are not aware of the risks or how to use tampons correctly – hell most women even flush tampons, again common sense would say that is a bad idea.

So as you can see, it is just this sort of ignorant and disgusting attitude of yours that means women don't know how to use tampons, also why there are so many more issues that go unnoticed and without discussion.

Not each woman is aware of easy methods to use a tampon. The purpose being; it isn't the TV that teaches a lady easy methods to use a Tmapon....its her mom or her peers or yet another depended on feminine in her lifestyles. All Tampon ads are doing are informing approximately their product and they aren't photo or gross of their language or the way in which they gift the product. If you do not adore it then difference the channel and god forbid you ever have just a little woman for the reason that you're without doubt no longer capable or mature adequate to satisfy the demanding situations of interacting with the feminine populace!

Oh baby, you've got a long way to go! Get yourself a copy of The Female Eunuch and at least drag yourself from the fifties into the seventies! Who knows, maybe you can get to the twenty-first century from there.

To answer your last point, there are new little girls being born all the time, and then they grow up, and so there are people starting to menstruate for the first time, all the time. It's a circle of life thing.

(In case you're wondering, no, I disagree with you about banning tampon ads. But in case you're also wondering, it's not blue.)

i agree 100%.....i hate those commercials!!! They are just as bad as "Bob that now has a bigger one that all of his neighbors"
and they only play that one in pairs.

Kids watch tv and it is very hard to explain those things to young ones but i always want to tell my kids the truth (no matter how embarrassing) so when they have a real problem they know they can come to me. So i think those things should not be allowed on television or only on late at night.

You know what trips me out? It is how many different tampons are on the market. Hit the female hygene section and there is this will of millions of different tampons. How do you know which is good? And when you see a good one, do you switch makes and models?
