If someone has a wall- or cross-eye, which eye do I focus on when talking to them?

Always look at the one that is staring directly at you.

There was a woman who worked the counter at wallgreens who had a wandering eye and I would always stare at the wanderer first when i noticed the other one staring directly back at me.

Remember, they always know when you are staring at the wrong eye.

If you can't figure out which eye they use mostly, by, for example, noticing which one they are using to look at you, look at the same eye that you look at with other people - I usually look at people's left eye, and that's the first eye I look at when dealing with a wall-eyed or cross-eyed person, changing eyes if I notice they are using the other one....

Look at the bridge of the nose. If you look only at the straight eye, it will give you a softer but weird gaze, so do that only for short periods of time. I notice that when someone wants to look my eyes, sometimes his/her eyes wander like mine.

I would look at the straight eye. Or if that cross-eye is still catching your attention, look at the forehead. BUT,if they notice that you are overlooking them,throw them off and glance at the rest of their face every once and a while.

I find it helps to go from one to the other, as casually as possible. Or else you can try to look directly at the bridge of their nose. Just be casual and look as though there's nothing different.
