Think about how much protein peanut butter has in it. Do YOU think it could harm the baby? If so, don't eat it. If you are really concerned about it, read the nutrition facts. Personally, I've never heard of peanut butter being bad for the pregnant mommy or the baby. In fact, WIC offers one jar of peanut butter a month in place of a bag of dried beans. I wouldn't be too worried about peanut butter.

Yes, it's good for you! Unless you or your family has a history of nut allergies. Here's what I found out....
For women without histories of nut allergies, peanuts and peanut butter can be a useful source of folate and protein intake as part of a healthy, diverse diet. Peanuts are also cholesterol-free. Any woman with nut allergies should avoid eating nut products at all times, not just while pregnant or breastfeeding.
There is little information on infant sensitization by women who consume peanuts while breastfeeding. However, we recommend that mothers who have a personal history or a close relative with nut allergies should not eat peanut products while breastfeeding, because their children have a greater-than-average risk of developing peanut allergies.

Pregnant women and breast feeding mothers with a family history of atopy have been advised in a government report to avoid eating peanut products in a bid to reduce the numbers of children who develop peanut allergy.
The advice, from the government's Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment, is aimed at up to a third of pregnant women--some 250000--who have close family members with allergic reactions, asthma, hay fever, or eczema. Families without a history of atopy can ignore the warning and enjoy eating it.

That's new to me.... I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all the time when I was pregnant.... they made the perfect "quick, I gotta eat something" snack.
I also had tuna fish sandwiches, but not more than once or twice a week as they are supposed to be comsumed in moderation due to the possiblity of mercury in some fish.
All three of my kids were born completely healthy and still are... healthy, happy and smart.

I ate a ton of peanut butter with both pregnancies. No harm done. I was never told by my dr. or anyone for that matter not to eat it. A friend of mine at work who was pregnant at the same time I was brought a PB&J and or peanuts to work with her every day. She is the one who re-introduced me to peanut butter reminding me of how much protein it had. So I say eat up.

I ate peanutbutter. In fact I craved it on sharp chedder cheese. I know, yuck. I have never heard of peanutbutter harming a baby. You would think my ob/gyn would have said something to me if it did, as I told him of my strange peanutbutter/cheese craving. If it concerns you, just give your Dr. a quick call. The Dr's office personel EXPECT questions such as this.

Where did you hear that?! Thats so not true. My mother lived off of peanut butter while she was pregnant with my brother and I and we turned out just fine.Peanut butter is good for you and your baby and its a great source of protein. I've heard that NOT eating peanut butter during pregnancy could predispose your baby to peanut allergies...so eat up!!

If peanut butter was harmful it wouldn't be on WIC vouchers. It is on vouchers for pregnant women. WIC is a federally run program with professional nutritionist to make sure you are eating right. Also it is high in iron which you need when you are pregnant

Peanut butter is completely fine to eat while pregnant.
It is when the baby is young that is suggested to wait until they are 1 year old atleast--due to choking and possibility of allergies.
Here is a list of things to avoid while pregnant
