Hi my computer has been running extremely unusually slow. I did however download some computer background screens and screensavers to my computer. Maybe that may be the reason. How can I go about deleting them or unloading them from the properties section of my computer? Please help me. I will gladly appreciate it. Please no rude answers.

from START, select Control Panel. From there, select install/remove software. Allow the computer to populate the window. Then, when you get to something you want to delete, select remove. Repeat as needed.

Another issue may be that you have too many programs running in the background. If that is the case, go to START....RUN...type in MSCONFIG32 and click ok or return (whatever it says to begin the search). This should tell you which programs are running. Deselect duplicate programs, like two anti-virus packages, or two disc repair packages, etc. then Reboot.

Many of these "free" screensavers and wallpaper are just ways to install viruses and spyware on your computer. "Beware Greeks bearing gifts..." The real problem, aside from removing the screensavers et al, is to get rid of the viruses and/or spyware (screensavers will slow down a computer BTW).

Uninstall the programs you installed and then run a good virus program and a good spyware program on your computer. You never said what kind of a computer you have so it's hard to be more specific. And then avoid "unprotected hex" with another computer. Never a wise idea.

Well, there are a lot of things you can do. First click on Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then Disc Cleanup. Run this program, it will clean out Internet garbage and unused files.
Then download a free program called CleanUp!, just do a search for it, its out there everywhere. Download and install this program and then run it. It also cleans out garbage and other stuff that Disc Cleanup might have missed.
After that, click on Start, then All Programs, the Accessories, then System Tools, then Disc Defragmenter. Run this program and be aware it may take several hours. This will rearrange the files on your computer in order for them to execute and run faster.
You should do the first two things at least once a week and the Disk Defrag once a month.

Hope this helps!

Go to your Start menu then settings then Control Panel then Install/Remove Programs and select the program of screensavers and other applications you may have downloaded and click uninstall. These slow your computer down and also go to the lower right of your screen and close applications you are not using these open programs slow your computer down. Good Luck!!!!

Right click on the desktop and select Properties. The go to Screen Saver section and change the screen saver to a simple one or better use none.

Also go to Desktop and select a simpler background or None.

You may want to check your computer for virus / trojan. Something like Lavasoft or Adware.

You may also want to try and defrag your hard-disc for better performance.

Adding more memory can also improve performance

The most likely problem is that your machine is riddled with mal-ware, spyware and viruses - be very careful about what you download from the net!

Make sure oyur anti-virus software is up-to-date with the latest definitions and run a full scan of the system. Failling that.......When this happened to my parents' computer, I backed up the data they wanted to keep and re-built the computer - works a treat!

There's manner too many steps with too many branches to be competent to explain some thing in element right here. People do cross to tuition to be taught the right way to do stuff like that. I believe you must take the pc to a pc fix retailer when you consider that judging out of your sensible description of the situation, I don't believe you have got the expertise, equipment, or talents to effectually repair the pc on your own.

Downloading background themes is OK, but downloading screensavers is not.
You probably got some sort of spyware or adware on your computer now, which is slowing it.
Run your antivirus program if you have one.
If not run this online antivirus, antispyware etc. scanner:

Good luck!

I hate to say it. But you may have to just reload the system. If you really want to clean it up. Try not to download so much trash from the internet
