A positive attitude sets the mood for productivity, and in dealing with a child, it promotes a 'positive' response to learning.

If you approach a child in an educational setting with an attitude of complacency or negativity, the child will automatically adopt the negative feelings you are expressing. ***Children are very often mirrors of what they observe around them. ***

I have an autistic son who is very succeptable to mood and attitude. He will NOT perform his work or take part in activities unless he sees smiles and open arms. This, to me, is the most innocent and honest expression of why being positive is important. My son doesn't understand the definitions of "positive" and "negative"...what he does understand is the feeling of security he gets from a smile and from a persons willingness to be open and optimistic about the day.
