If the demand decreased - Some bauxite mines would close down because they would no longer be able to make money. The value of the ore will than go down.

If the demand increased - They would find as many bauxite mines to make money. The value would go up on the ore.

There are many open pit quarries from which production has ceased. They can be allowed to flood and in some places they are used for recreation and wildlife sanctuaries.

Depending on the economics and environmental impact they could be pumped out and production restarted.
